Mary Mendelsohn, M.D. is a graduate of Yale University for college, and S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook School of Medicine medical school. Her ophthalmology surgical training was done at New York University Medical Center in Manhattan, where she also completed a specialty fellowship in medical retina. She did a second specialty fellowship in ophthalmic oncology at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Mendelsohn has special expertise in treating diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. She also greatly enjoys all aspects of general eye care, including glasses, contact lenses, glaucoma therapy, amblyopia and children's eye exams.
Dr. Mendelsohn is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has lectured at national ophthalmology meetings. She received the Louis and Rachel Rudin Foundation grant and the David Warfield Fellowship grant award for her work in ophthalmology.
She enjoys speaking to community groups, and has given presentations to local seniors groups, low vision groups, ophthalmic technical society meetings, and the Girl Scouts Career Night! If your community group would like a presentation on eye issues, please call and we would be happy to arrange it.

She was very warm and made you feel comfortable from the start. She was very thorough and very efficient with time, which I appreciated as I had a lot to do that day. From other reviews many commented on wait time. Taking an early appointment when possible would be my recommendation. I had an 8:50 appointment. Also, as you leave, there is an optical boutique so you can literally do one stop shopping. Would highly recommend.

She was very understanding and patient with my Mom. Dr. Asked a lot of questions to better understand what was wrong. She explained what she found and how to adjust to it. I'm going to make an appointment for myself for my next eye exam. I was that impressed!

I loved this office! It's a little hard to find (the outside does not look like it would be a doctor's office). But the place is very nice! Clean, very nice looking.
The best part is the staff. They were super friendly and helpful in figuring out insurance information. Wonderful staff and wonderful doctor; would recommend to anyone and I am definitely coming back here!!!!

I really like her and think she is good but you need to be unemployed or interested in giving up your night. Every single appointment there is at least an hour wait and then you are in the room and maybe that takes 30 minutes. I really like her but you sit in a waiting room with annoyed people who are also fuming over the wait. That is stressful! You can't even call the office and ask are they running on time and try to come 'late' to your appointment. You try to miss the wait time and they cancel you out. I work less than 5 minutes away but can't go during my lunch hour because an appointment is a 2 hour ordeal. After work means you totally miss dinner e.g. a 6:30 appointment I walked out after 8.
