Getting to know Mary Neill
Seeking therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you've spent years trying to manage everything on your own. My goal is to provide a space where you don't have to hide parts of yourself or worry about being judged.
I work with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and the lasting effects of shame and self-criticism. I also have a special interest in working with neurodivergent individuals, including autistic people and those with ADHD, as well as members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Whether you're questioning your identity, navigating a major life change, recovering from burnout, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can provide a place to better understand yourself and move toward the life you want.
My approach is integrative, drawing from person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, family systems, compassion-focused therapy, and DBT-informed skills. Rather than using the same approach for everyone, I tailor therapy to your unique experiences, strengths, and goals.
As a telehealth-only practice serving teens and adults throughout Texas, I strive to make therapy accessible, comfortable, and convenient. I look forward to helping you move toward a life that feels more authentic, balanced, and fulfilling.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Many people come to therapy worried that they need to know exactly what to say or have everything figured out before the first session. You don't. My role is to help you make sense of what you're experiencing and support you through the process.
I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative. I won't tell you how to live your life or assume I know what's best for you. Instead, I will ask thoughtful questions, offer perspective, and help you develop practical skills that fit your goals and your life.
I value creating a space where you feel accepted, respected, and comfortable enough to be yourself. We can explore difficult emotions while also recognizing your strengths and building on what is already working. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling heard, understood, and equipped with something meaningful to take into your daily life.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your history, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from the process. It is also your opportunity to ask questions and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you.
From there, we will identify goals together and create a plan that reflects your needs and priorities. Because every client is different, I tailor therapy to fit you rather than following the same approach with everyone. Some sessions focus on processing emotions and experiences, while others may emphasize learning new coping skills, improving relationships, or working through specific challenges.
As therapy progresses, we will regularly check in on your goals, celebrate growth, and adjust our focus as your needs change. My goal is to help you gain insight, build practical tools, and develop confidence that continues long after therapy ends.
