Getting to know Mary Viglas-Eckles

***I currently do not accept Medicare or Medicaid programs*** Clients should be aware that I do not prescribe stimulant medications at this time. Please only book an appointment if you are fully committed to attending the session. Thank you! I like to create a safe space in which my clients feel comfortable to express their feelings and needs. I build therapeutic relationships with my clients which allows us to create a collaborative treatment plan. I strongly believe that each individual should have active involvement in establishing a plan of care that will assist in achieving their goals. My goal is to assist clients in achieving their desired level of holistic wellness. When I am not caring for my clients I enjoy camping, hiking, traveling, and gardening. I am also an avid yogi, a RYT-200 yoga instructor, and an aerialist. I practice mindfulness daily and integrate all I have learned from these endeavors into my psychiatric practice. I am also an active volunteer for several non-profit organizations.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with clients with anxiety and depression with focus on trauma-related concerns. I also have experience with dual diagnosis such as co-occurring substance use disorders and depression and/or anxiety. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session will begin with a thorough assessment of all symptoms both physical and mental. Past medical, psychiatric, and medication history will also be reviewed as well as current medications, their effects and their side effects. A significant portion of the visit will be used for therapeutic techniques to explore aspects of mental health and ways that we may improve quality of life through those explorations. The goal is to provide assistance and guidance to achieve the goals each individual hopes to.
