In 2012 Dr. Hosler began offering canaloplasty surgery at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston, NJ. This procedure is one of the latest advancements in the minimally invasive glaucoma surgery field. He will be lecturing on the general topic of glaucoma treatments in July 2013 in West Orange. Dr. Hosler is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and fellowship trained glaucoma specialist. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania, and his medical degree at UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School. He completed internship at Morristown Memorial Hospital followed by Ophthalmology residency at Penn State University School of Medicine. He pursued fellowship training at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and NYU, where he completed peer reviewed glaucoma research with Dr. Robert Ritch and Dr. Celso Tello.
While at UMDNJ he also completed his PhD degree with a research thesis describing the novel use of medication to block the formation of secondary cataract. Prior to graduate school he worked almost 3 years at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia researching the molecular genetics of pediatric leukemias. He is co-author on 14 peer reviewed articles in nationally recognized medical journals. His most recent article was published in the January 2012 issue of the journal Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hosler is married with 3 children. He has served as an assistant coach for the Cranford Baseball and Softball League. He currently serves as the Swimming and Lifesaving merit badge counselor for the Boy Scout Troop 80 in Cranford, New Jersey. He is a regular lecturer in the clinical medicine course at Seton Hall University.
