About Dr. Matthew Luxenberg
Dr. Matthew Luxenberg, a California native attended UC Riverside graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Biomedical Science. He attended UCLA School of medicine, followed by internal medical internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He completed his Dermatology Residency training from UCLA in 1990. Dr. Luxenberg began working in the city of Los Angeles in 1990, and became managing partner of our group in 1991.
Over the years, he has worked to expand our office to include the cities of Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, Tustin, and Mission Viejo. He spent 20 years on the Board of Directors for the California Dermatology Society and has been an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Matthew Luxenberg is married with three beautiful children. His personal interests include competitive tennis and boating.
Dr. Luxenberg’s primary interest is Skin Cancer surgery, providing state of the art results with flap and skin graft surgery. He also specializes in the removal of premalignant and benign lesions,(including cysts and Lipomas).
Dr. Luxenberg also has a special interest in Cosmetic Dermatology and is an expert in injectable materials such as Juvederm, Restylane, Botox, and Dysport. He also has tremendous experience with chemical peels for facial rejuvenation as well as sclerotherapy to treat unsightly leg veins.
Dr. Luxenberg is a hard working physician who extends his hours as needed to accommodate his patient’s schedules. He feels it is important to see patients within a few days of requesting an appointment.

Although the wait was a bit long (he was running behind and I was informed of this when I checked in, so no big deal) it was well worth it. Dr. Luxenberg was fabulous. I'll be honest, I almost walked out. I was so frustrated about the wait time. I had an 11am appointment and being that I was a new patient I arrived at 10:50am. I filled out the paperwork and then waited. And waited. At noon I was called in and sat in another room for 10 more minutes. I had to call my next appointment (12:30pm) and explain that I was going to be late.
It was only Dr. Luxenberg that saved it. He was great. Very pleasant and made me feel comfortable immediately. Even though he was clearly running behind, he did not make me feel rushed or try and get through my appointment fast.
I will continue to see him and hope that this delay was just a one time occurrence.

You could tell the doctor was rushed. He was nice but just wanted to get it done quickly so he didnt pay as much attention. Waited almost 2 hours, spent 15 minutes with the doctor at the most. I wouldnt come back, he didnt seem like he truly cared.

I came in for a skin checkup concerning acne. First of all my appointment was at 5pm, I didn't get to see the doctor until 6:50pm. That's ridiculous and all I was told is that "Sorry it's busy around this time, try earlier or later next time." Thanks but I'll be going elsewhere from now on. Got my checkup as I requested, basically just threw prescriptions at me, and talked so fast I didn't get a word in otherwise. Next thing I knew he had me remove my shirt, lay down on the table and before I could know what was going on he was burning freckled off my body without asking or consulting me about why he thought that was appropriate. Now I have three scars on my body that are highly visible where the freckles use to be, and a medical bill that is outrageous from getting something done that was not covered. Dr. Matthew Luxenberg is a overzealous trigger happy dermatologist who barely cared if I was even there or not. If you want extra scars and medicine thrown at you without actually discussing causes of your issues then I would recommend him.

This was the worst visit to any medical facility i have ever been. The wait was understandable it was busy and i showed up early. The treatment was not understandable. Rushed and unexplained I was uncomfortable the entire time. Even after letting Dr. Luxenberg know that i had never received his type of treatment before. My visit was for a genital wart.
