While the doctor was very thorough and seemed to be very knowledgeable. The office staff is very lackadaisical. I arrived 45 minutes early as a new patient knowing I had to fill paperwork out. I wasn't given my paperwork until about a half hour after my scheduled appointment. And wasn't seen until an hour and a half after that. The office staff showed no interest or initiative to assist. They even let a woman who came in an hour after me be seen first because she was complaining. I waited 3 hours in total to be seen. I am most definitely not happy about this. However, Dr. Kaphan himself seems like a great doctor and I look forward to hopefully having a better experience on my follow up.

I am very happy with my encounter with Dr. Kaphan. He is a very knowledgeable professional and I look forward to recovering under his guidance!
I should note that as a new patient, I still needed to fill out forms at the office even though I 'checked in' on Zocdoc, so allow time if you are a new patient.

Dr. Mitchell Kaphan is a physician at NY EMPIRE MEDICAL PC specializing in general orthopedics as well as knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery which brings with him over 30 years of experience and advanced skills in helping relieve symptoms and restore patients back to previous activity levels. In addition to his extensive practice history, Dr. Kaphan also holds affiliations at Flushing Hospital and Wyckoff Medical Center. He has extensive experience dealing with Workers Compensation, No Fault and Personal Injury patients. He takes the time to explain both minor and major problems with any needed treatment plans to his patients. Originally from Bronx, Dr. Kaphan is a retired Desert Storm combat veteran with 22 years of service in the US Army. He presently volunteers with the NY Guard at Camp Smith, NY.

Big waste of my time. I didn't feel the doctor got any information and was very quick to offer a rushed diagnosis. The office was way over-booked and wait was very long. I left knowing absolutely nothing more about my injury than when I came in. I have since followed up with another physician and am very happy I did. Rude, rushed, wrong and condescending sum up my thoughts on this Dr.

Great front desk employee. BUT ON THE WAITING TIME FOR THE DOCTOR SUCKS!!!! MY APPOINTMENT WAS AT 11AM I WAS WAITING TILL 1PM. NEVER WILL GO BACK AND NEVER WILL REFFER A FREIND OR A RELATIVE TO THAT DOCTOR OFFICE. BUT GOOD LOOKING NURSES WORKING AT THE FRONT DESK.

Dr. Kaphan was great, he addressed all my issues and was very patient with me. Waiting time was about 20 minutes. I scheduled the appointment same day. I have to do physical therapy for my knee and the office has physical therapy on premises which is very convenient. Highly recommended.
