Dr. Mitchell Schuman is a board-certified specialist in the practice of comprehensive ophthalmology. His main focus is taking great care of patients in a safe and welcoming environment.
Dr. Schuman received his Medical Degree from New York Medical College in 1975 at the age of 23. He completed a medical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center, a Residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Hospital in 1979, and a prestigious Corneal Fellowship with Dr. Jorge Buxton at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1980. Dr. Schuman is a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the New York State Medical Society, the New York State Ophthalmological Society, ASCRS and The Castroviejo Cornea Society.
In his spare time Dr. Schuman enjoys spending time with his family, photography, growing vegetables from seeds, fixing things, travel and tennis.
Dr. Schuman sees all emergency visits on the day requested. Kindly note that during emergency visits, only the emergency problem is addressed.

I went to Dr. Schuman once in 2016 before moving to a new borough. In January of 2021, I received a notification that I had a derogatory mark on my credit score and it was because Dr. Schuman claimed I owed him money. I distinctly remember their services being cash only (which is odd for a doctor) and I'm 100% certain I didn't owe them anything after my visit. I also never received any emails or phone calls from the collection agency.
I called Doctor Schuman's office to sort things out and was never given a straight answer. I was told they would call or email me back and they never did.
I ultimately disputed the charges with the collection agency and they were dropped. There was no explanation from the collection agency or Doctor Schuman around what these charges were for. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend this doctor to anyone, unless you have a vendetta against your own credit score.
