What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients working with me can expect a collaborative, supportive, and transparent approach to mental health treatment. I believe psychiatric care works best when patients feel comfortable asking questions, discussing concerns openly, and actively participating in treatment decisions. My role is not only to prescribe medication when appropriate, but also to help patients better understand their symptoms, stressors, and treatment options in a practical and realistic way. I specialize in reproductive and perinatal mental health, including pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, fertility-related stress, and medication management during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I understand that many patients come into treatment carrying guilt, fear, or anxiety about seeking psychiatric care during this stage of life. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental environment where patients feel safe discussing difficult thoughts, emotional changes, relationship stress, identity changes, and concerns about parenting or pregnancy. Appointments are focused, conversational, and individualized. I take time to understand the full picture, including medical history, sleep, hormones, relationships, trauma history, lifestyle stressors, and prior treatment experiences. I also recognize that mental health symptoms during pregnancy and postpartum are often minimized or overlooked, and I take patient concerns seriously. Treatment plans are tailored to each individual and may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, education, behavioral strategies, coordination with OB/GYN or primary care providers, and referrals when appropriate. I prioritize evidence-based care while also respecting personal values, cultural background, and individual comfort levels surrounding treatment decisions. I encourage honesty and consistency throughout treatment. Mental health recovery is rarely linear, especially during major life transitions like pregnancy and parenthood. My goal is to help patients build stabi

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding the full picture of a patient’s mental health, medical history, current symptoms, life stressors, and treatment goals. During the initial appointment, we discuss emotional symptoms, sleep, anxiety, mood changes, trauma history, attention and concentration concerns, relationship dynamics, pregnancy or postpartum experiences, prior medications, and any previous therapy or psychiatric treatment. I also review medical conditions, hormonal factors, and lifestyle patterns that may be contributing to symptoms. For patients seeking care related to pregnancy, postpartum mental health, or reproductive psychiatry, I spend time reviewing concerns about medication safety, breastfeeding considerations, fertility planning, and the emotional impact of pregnancy and parenthood. I believe patients deserve clear information and realistic discussions about risks, benefits, and treatment options without pressure or judgment. After the evaluation, we work together to create an individualized treatment plan. Depending on the patient’s needs, treatment may include psychiatric medication management, supportive psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, coping strategies, psychoeducation, lifestyle modifications, or referrals for additional support services. My approach is collaborative, and I encourage patients to actively participate in treatment decisions. Follow-up appointments focus on tracking symptom improvement, side effects, stressors, sleep, emotional regulation, functioning at work or home, and overall quality of life. Treatment plans are adjusted over time based on how the patient is responding and what changes may be occurring in their life. I also coordinate care with therapists, OB/GYN providers, primary care providers, or specialists when appropriate to support continuity of care. I aim to provide care that is approachable, practical, and consistent. Many patients come into treatment feel
