About Dr. Najla Abdur-Rahman

Dr. Najla Abdur-Rahman serves as medical director of the practice. Her patients know her fondly as "Dr. Najla or Dr. A". Prior to joining the Star Choice Pediatrics team, Dr. Najla worked for Mercy-Maryland Family Care as a primary care pediatrician. Before Mercy she worked as a pediatric hospitalist at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Dr. Najla served as a clinical preceptor for Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland pediatric residents programs. She was also an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing where she trained nurses in primary care pediatrics. Dr. Najla is a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Maryland State Medical Society. She has an interest in patient and parent education especially breast feeding education and community outreach. Dr. Najla did her Pediatric Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and obtained her M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She received her B.S. degree with high honors in Mathematical Sciences & Engineering from Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering. Dr. Najla was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Barbados, West Indies. She is married and a mother of five children. In her spare time she loves traveling and trying new recipes. She plays as a Power Forward on her undefeated female basketball team. She is well known for her vegetable lasagna and coconut pastry dishes.
