“I travel from Brooklyn into the Bronx to see this Doctor. I have a lot of respect for Dr. Sundaresan. His bedside manner is exceptional, he takes his time to explain things to me and makes sure I understand clearly. At this point I can not have my spinal procedure done for reasons out of his control, however once I am recovered he will be able to preform my surgery and God willing I will be back in action. I appreciate him and his nursing staff they are all very professional individuals thus far. ”

“Dr. Sundaresan could not be more acccomidating and helpful. His knowledge and expertise is unmatched but what really sets him apart is how flexible and understanding he can be. Working with Dr. S and his entire staff has been a great experience and I highly recommend you choose him as your neurosurgeon.”

About Dr. Narayan Sundaresan

To all patients making an appointment, please provide us with as much contact and insurance information as possible. This will help us determine if you need a referral before seeing any of our providers. We want to ensure all our patients are seen in a timely and proper manner. Providing this information will help us offer a seamless and easy process when you come into our office. I am a New York City-based, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon and neurooncologist with over 30 years of experience. I earned my Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from King George's Medical University, completed my residency in neurosurgery at Northwestern University, and finished a fellowship in neuro-oncology, brain, and spine surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I treat all aspects of complex head and spine trauma, degenerative spine disease, and both surgical and medical management of tumors and cancer of the central nervous system. My specialties include "motion preservation" and dynamic stabilization of the spine. As an alternative to spinal fusion—where two vertebrae are immobilized using implants and instrumentation—I place implant devices that not only relieve patients of their pain but also preserve the range of motion that fusion surgery impedes. I am fluent in all minimally invasive techniques of the spine—small incisions that spare surrounding muscle and tissue—that get surgical patients out of the hospital quickly. I have returned federal agents, policemen, and firefighters back to the field within weeks of surgery—with fantastic results and no pain. Additionally, when a young woman in the Bronx was shot and left with an extremely dire prognosis, I completely resected the bullet fragment using state-of-the-art technology. She is back with her family with no neurological deficits. I have written over 100 peer-reviewed abstracts and published articles. Cutting-edge therapies for cancer and trauma guide my practice.

I was seeing Dr Sundaresan, (C.O.S) Neurologist for my Workers Comp, because the insurance carrier is not Cooperative my case is made difficult instead of being a smooth transition, I have had all my M.R.I’s and recommendation to have surgery, once I receive it, I felt like I wasn’t helped enough, I was told once the surgeon does it’s job, they kick you back to your original Orthopedic doctor???, Unfortunately for me that Doctor No longer sees patients and has turned to the carrier side as a I.M.E, which is a workers comp claimant worst nightmare. So now I’m lost and feel like a chewed gum thrown away. Other then that the PA Joseph and Cara are pleasant to speak to and sort of guide you once you are ready for surgery. Hope this helps someone, Respectfully, From a Loving Patient

I saw Dr. S several times about a herniated disc and degenerative disc disease in the cervical area. After meeting with several neurosurgeons, I felt more than confident to choose him for my procedure. He eventually performed a one level cervical artificial disc replacement on me . There are so many reasons I would recommend this doctor. He noticed an allergic reaction I was developing internally from the first day post surgery. He was concerned about it before I was. I wound up needing a minor procedure on my incision to eliminate the allergy. I couldn't have been more impressed with his ability to not only recognize the problem before it was apparent to the untrained eye, but repair it with ease. Another wonderful thing about Dr. S is his staff. Between his representatives and physician assistants, I was always treated with care and compassion. I was called and/or texted after the surgery to check on my progress. I was given several contacts to utilize in the event of an emergency. I was also able to speak with the staff prior to the surgery to receive answers for questions of any kind. I am a month post surgery and I must say my biggest reason to recommend Dr. S and his staff is because I feel great! They were all 100% clear on what my expectations should be post surgery regarding my specific injury and condition. The doctor and his staff made sure to never pressure me to choose surgery. They counseled me heavily on the pros and cons prior to my decision. Dr. S had me repeat several tests prior to surgery to verify that I was a good candidate for the surgery. He was the most thorough neurosurgeon I met with. Most doctors simply pushed for surgery before seeing clearer exams. In addition to all this, my stay in Coney Island Hospital was great. The nurses took excellent care of me and the PA's or Doctor checked on me daily. Dr. S and his staff are highly professional, compassionate, and knowledgable in their line of work. I couldn't be happier with choosing them for this procedure.

I could not state enough compliments toward my experience with the entire team as whole. From my initial phone call to set up a consultation, to date, I was treated, by everyone, in such a caring and considerate way as I have never been before. *My experience before and after being a patient of Dr. Sundaresan and his entire team* I had an accident in July,2015 and was declared medically disabled. Prior to this I was a healthy 30 year old man. I was "strung along" as many of us are through the medical system one doctor after another, as no one really wanted to be bothered with me as it seemed. With appointments spread months apart and a lack of even remembering who I was or why I was even there, let alone paper work botches and unnecessary rescheduling of my already long awaited appointments, I naturally grew less hopeful for recovery. Months and months of my life being on hold and seemingly no change in site, I found Dr. Sundaresan. I first spoke to the administrator of his team to set up a consultation and explain my situation. Immediately I was taken back, in a great way, at how he was genuinely concerned for me and wanted to help. We did not end the call until every bit of information was noted and I was set up with the earliest and most convenient possible appointment to expedite any further hold up for me. From that, being the first moment as a patient with this team, the trend continued and a new gold standard in medical treatment was set for me. In less than 1 month I was already recovering from a completely successful surgery and am more than grateful to say today that i am writing this review in between working and living my life better than I ever have before. To this day, even weeks post-op, I still am contacted to just say hi and see how I'm doing as well as remind me they are always there for me now and in the future for anything, always happy for me and wishing me well. I truly felt like (and still do) I was some famous celebrity V.I.P. To any one wondering whether or not Dr. Sundaresan and his team would be the right choice for you, I'd say "Congratulations as you've just won the medical treatment lottery so please go claim your prize." This may sound silly and over-stated but the fact that I am living my life the way I am today and all the while being made to feel like I was one of their own family being cared for the entire time, I tell you its more of an understatement than anything.

Dr. Sundaresan preformed a cervical disc (C6-C7) replacement. As you can imagine, I was very nervous as I was only 41 years old. But I researched Dr. Sundaresan's background and was assured he was very skilled. At his office, the staff was very nice and when I met with him, he made me feel very comfortable and that my decision to have this surgery was my best option. He spent lots of time answering all my questions. He stopped and assured me` before my surgery and was there afterwards. I feel great and I haven't had any issues since (1 year later). Dr.Sundareson, Thank You!
I was very nervous going into the office, but was quickly relaxed after meeting Lena and Dr. Sundaresan. I had planned in getting two other opinion, but felt as comfortable and confident after speaking to the doctor. I knew I would be in the best hands for my surgery. He treated me like a person not a member and never rushed me out.
I found an oasis in the desert of extreme back pain and intense anxiety. I was suffering from severe back pain and drop foot. I had doubts if I would ever live without extreme back pain, or if I would ever walk correctly again. From the moment I met the office Manager, Lena, who was so patient, professional and caring, that my thinking was immediately calmed. Then my consultation with Dr. Sundaresan I became even more hopeful of a positive future; because his manner was so attentive, sensitive, professional, and knowledgeable
