Out of the 10+ times I have came to the astoria office, without fail I have to wait over 60 mins every single time. They do not honor appointment times. The doctor however, is very good and was the reason I kept coming back. However, today I had to leave without seeing the doctor because I had somewhere to be in an hour. I will not be coming back anymore. I can not afford to keep wasting my time here.
Dr. Prufer‘s office is easy to find and the staff is very welcoming. I? was seen almost right away (after I? filled out my forms). Dr. Prufer was really nice and answered all my questions. I? felt very comfortable and did not feel rushed, like you do in some doctors offices. The woman administering my hearing test was delightful. I? would definitely return if I? need a follow up or have any other concerns .
Super long wait to be seen, with a TV in the waiting room, so I couldn't even concentrate on reading to pass the wait time. Aside from that, Dr. Prufer was professional and thorough.
The staff was so incredibly rude- i have never been treated so badly by a professional office before in my life. Plus their office is in a dank basement that has not cell service or wifi- so you will have to wait the incredibly long wait time watching the weather channel. There is nothing nice I can say- this was a complete waste of time- my concerns were not even properly addressed. DO NOT GO HERE!!! FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!
Office needs an update.
If there was an emergency and I (& the rest of us) had to wait for over an hour to be seen, why didn't: 1) another one of the docs there jump in to cover, or 2) why didn't the staff call or text or email patients to a) have them come later to not waste patients time doing nothing but sitting in that office or b) reschedule for a different time or day. They were plenty of staff member sitting behind the window doing pretty much nothing. In fact I even called one hour before the scheduled time of my appointment to see if the doctor was running late-- and guess what the phone rang and rang and no one answered it--chicken makes no sense because they were plenty of staff members sitting behind that window where all the records are. Doctors are only as good as their staff and we patients should've gotten proper notice proper communication or any communication.
Dr. Prufer saw my 9 year old son. He was very approachable and thorough. He diagnosed the issue, gave instructions on how to treat and made my son feel comfortable during the visit. Highly recommended.
Dr Prufers office is conveniently located and his staff was very friendly and professional. 8 didn't wait more than ten minutes to see him agter filling in the paperwork. He was pleasant, professional and very thorough. He addressed all of my concerns and I felt so much better for having seen him. I would definitely recommend him.
He took care of my problem beyond my expectations and professionalism.
Waited 1 hour 45 minutes in the basement without reception. Doctor forgot to call my pharmacy to submit a prescription after I double confirmed that he would. Had to call back get it filled. The doctor is nice and seems to know what he's doing, but given how long I waited and the lack of detail, I would pass.
Dr Prufer is the best. I've always dealt with sinus issues and nose bleeds and my current job makes it harder but dr Prufer has helped me find relief !!!
He was very thorough and helpful although I do not appreciate the fact that I filled out all of my information for you beforehand to avoid filling it out in the office and they said that was wrong and they never got it. Where is it? I will not use your service again. Please take me off the list. I will call the doctor directly for appointments.
Dr. Prufer was great and efficient and I'm feeling so much better already! Thank you!
He is very professional and was able to answer all my concerns immediately.
the best doctor
Dr. Prufer is GREAT ????
Excellent except the wait
Perfect as always. He's a great doctor. I have seen him in the Woodside and Astoria facilities. He is always great. The Astoria staff is professional and a pleasure to deal with. Most of the staff in the Woodside office however need a lot of improvement in many ways. They are quite frustrating. It's not just me either, anytime I've been there other patients have voiced negative and valid opinions toward them with no apology, empathy or ability to make the situation right. Despite this I recommend Dr. Prufer 100%
Extremely nice doctor - he took his time with me, explained procedures, and I left hearing better than I had heard in a long time.
Dr.prufer was excellent. I was unfortunately 20 mins late to my appointment due to in climate weather and the subways running slower than normal. With that being said, the woman at the receptionist desk was very unprofessional to me and kept telling everyone I was 40 mins late and. It being understanding. All the other staff were very nice and pleasant. I would recommend they find better reception help.
I am happy with Dr. Prufer however when I booked my appointment I filled out all the paper work and I send a picture of my insurance. When I arrived for my appointment I had to do it again. What is the purpose of filling out all the paperwork on Zocdoc and do it again in the office.
My appointment was at 530 they called me to come for 5 said the doctor wanted to leave by 530. I said ok and left work early. I get there at 445 and office filled. I was like you told me to come early what's going on. The redemption was like well if you came at 530 you would have been late. Guess what happened next. 6pm was called. What a messed up thing to do tell me to come early to wait past my appointment. Hate places that do this
Dr. Prufer is really great and I really Hate to bring up anything negative but unfortunately I feel most of the staff at this location needs training in many areas of healthcare customer services and professionalism. They seem quite unorganized, they don't really seem to listen to you or really understand the importance of quality care for each patient. People visit health facilities for a reason and it is not good when you do not receive the attendance and support you really need. I've been cut off verbally while expressing my medical needs, Ive been verbally yeah yeah'd and ignored, and I've requested important documents that were not given to me making it very clear to me that the importance of these documents for my insurance company was ignored and carried out. I felt unsatifyed by this especially when they seemed to be more interested in having private conversations and laughing amongst themselves while people in the waiting room were right there in the same room. I've also been hung up on the phone mid sentence. It's almost as if they couldn't be bothered. If they cannot give each individual patient proper professional and kind care, they should not overbook so much people into one day.
I signed up my name and nurse didn't realize it after overhearing 2 nurses that day didn't have any one else I got up and told them I had an appointment at 5:30 they looked each other and tell me it was late already. I told then I was early and I had sign my name too. Then I was asked to file out some papers but I had already done it online of course computer was not working. After all that the doctor saw me. Doctor was quick. Overall it was ok
The office does not look like a medical office, it looks dirty and antiquated. Waited for over 1 hours even though I had an appointment. The waiting area was full of people waiting. The doctor saw me for less than 10 minutes. Did not ask relevant questions or showed interest on what I had to say about my condition. I overheard the staff having arguments with people over the phone. In overall, I would not visit this practice again.
Horrible experience! Office building is under construction no signage you get lost trying to find the place! Staff is horrible! I got a hearing test while at my appt. there were many interruptions and I found it to be ineffective! The doctor was in a rush and made me feel very uncomfortable! BEWARE!!!!!
Dr. Prufer is superb. He listens well, he is thorough, professional, kind, and friendly. He helped me tremendously.
Good n well behaved
Dr. Prufer, was great with my son and made the visit a very pleasant one. Very satisfied with the ear cleaning.
doctor prufer is a good doctor but when i came to the woodside office for my son appointment there is no doctor the staff said that my number is wrong but i recieve the text message from zocdoc.com she said that online appointment is not good. if the online appointment is not good why my appointment is confirmed to that office please fired your staff she did not doing her job...
very good he find out what was my problem and took care of it right away. I'm happy.
As always very theral and professional
I got to the office and they said they had to reschedule even though I was on time
I loved my appointment, Dr. Prufer was very professional and willing to give me detailed feedback on all of my questions. However, I got there early and still waited for over an hour past my appointment time.
Dr. Prufer was quick and efficient with the procedures. There was not a lot of explanation as to what the procedures were.
Dr. Prufer was kind, knowledgeable and deliberate when it came to my visit. He listened to my concerns, screened me through a series of comprehensive tests and asked all the right questions. The time I spent in the waiting area was less than ideal, but I chalk it up to the office being extremely busy that day- it was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and I'm sure lots of patients were looking to be seen before it began. I would recommend Dr, Prufer to anyone. One of the nicest, most thorough doctors I have ever had.
I highly recommend Dr. Prufer to everyone! He's been helping me out with issues I've suffered with since I was a child.
Kind and patient
Very pleased. Dr. Prufer took care of my frequent nose bleeds today. I highy recommend. I will make a follow-up appt in one month. Thanks!
Thorough and knowledgeable
That was really good
He is an outstanding physician. Explains everything clearly .
He was very professional and nice
Overbooked. No point In making an appointment.
Waiting was too long. No distraction for children
Very easy to talk too. Great bedside manner. I would recommend him.
My second visit and yet again a very pleasant experience. The staff are very nice, though busy they are efficient and courteous. Dr. Prufer is wonderful, kind and funny and I left feeling relieved and upbeat about my treatment. His office has moved to basement as there are renovations on 4th floor which can be confusing as there are no signs etc.
Dr. Prufer is professional and very nice, efficient. However, wait time in his office is often about 1-1.5hrs.
He is a good doctor and I give him thanks for taking care of my son and finally giving me a diagnoses that these other doctors couldn't give me I was really stressed out seeing my son in pain. Im finally going to sleep good tonight. Thank you so much Dr.Neil
Dr. Prufer was great, answered all my questions and even let me keep a picture of my T-tube! I would reccomend for anyone looking for a good ENT doctor to pay him a visit.
Amazing staff and AMAZING doctor!!!!!
The Doctor is very friendly and professional. Very recommended
He was very thorough and took the time to listen to me to better diagnose me.
The times I've been to see Dr. Prufer, I have always been satisfied with the level of service he and his office provide. They solved an issue that I had in just one visit and are now taking care of another issue that I've suffered with my whole life. I highly recommend him to anyone with ENT related issues.
He was amazing! A very caring doctor. I would highly recommend him.
Mr. Prufer is a great doctor I will continue to go to him I was very happy the way he makes you understand everything.
Dr Neil was to the point, he explain, and ask if you have any questions. Will go back to see him again.
i would like to return and become a regular patient.
He were very professional and very knowledgeable about my concerns .
Doctor Prufer was great. My issue was with the disorganized staff at his office. I received a phone call from the office two hours before my appointment to confirm and warn me their elevator was being serviced. No problem. The woman also said I should arrive early to fill out paperwork. So I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, and quickly filled out the paperwork. But then I was kept waiting an hour before I could see the doctor! I asked the person at the front desk why I was told to arrive early, if there was going to be such a long wait. Apathetically, she responded with "these things happen."
The doctor apologized for the long wait. Dr. Prufer has a very good "bedside" manner. He is nice, approachable & knowlegable.
It was my first time visiting an ENT office. He asked me questions and listened to my concern. After, he addressed my concern right away by examining my throat with a camera. He was knowledgeable about my vocal cord condition and explained to me what had happened to it. He also gave me a photocopy of my throat.
Doc knew what he was doing, and was cordial and quick.
Great visit. Highly recommend this doctor.
I got there 45 minutes earlier than my appointment and was seen a little before my scheduled time. The doc was knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had with honesty. I wod recommend him to others.
I saw Dr. Prufer at the Queens Blvd office due to a problem with my right ear. He was nice, professional and took the time to answer my questions. The other members of the staff were friendly and professional as well. Recommended.
The Dr. Was great as was his attendant and the male receptionist. They were each very professional and courteous. The office is also very clean and spacious. There was one team member who wasn't very attentive. After filing out paperwork in attempt to return it one older female receptionist was too busy attempting to get her credit card info from her bank considering she's left her card at home. She witnessed me standing there and put her head down but as soon as the male receptionist returned she started to act as if she was attempting to assist me by advising me I needed to fill out paperwork (that I had already completed and was holding in front of me) and asking for my ID and insurance card which was also already provided.
I had to fill out the same forms I had done so beforehand with zocdoc, so my time was definitely wasted. I liked the doctor, however.
Great doctor! Just be prepared to wait an hour or more in the waiting room that has no cell service.
Extremely helpful and thorough. I left the office hearing better and knowing more. All of my questions and concerns were answered. Highly recommend Dr. Prufer.
I was very pleased with the doctor and staff. All was handled in a very professional manner. Staff was friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend Dr. Neil Prufer. He was easy to talk to and he explained everything I needed to know
Very friendly, relaxed, and informative. Staff were likewise decent.
The doctor was. Pleasent nice side bedside manears. He answer all my questions great staff too
He is a great doctor as I always thought I had sinus problem but my previous doctor at flushing told me I didn't have sinus and that I was suffering from allergic rhinitis. I always had a doubt on it as whenever I had yogurt, ice cream & frozen drinks , I used to sneeze !! I visited Dr Neil for the first time & after looking at the pictures he instantly told me I had sinus infection & was suffering from allergy as well so now it all makes sense! I would recommend him to everyone!!
The doctor was very informative.
I'd highly recommend Dr. Prufer! I've been suffering from PND for 7 years and nobody was able to diagnose the underlying condition except for Dr. Prufer. He was very mannered and listened to my complaints without rushing me.
I was welcome by Ms. Tricia, the office manager with utmost courtesy and respect. She was excellent and kept me well informed about the process and frankly, she was just super. The doctor was very caring and I will recommend my whole family and friends as well.
Great doctor !!!!
Love this doctor!
Excellent! Fixed my problem right away!
Doctor prufer is the best, i lost alot of hearing do to many ear infections growing up, amd my sinus was all blocked as well, soon as the doc took notice he processed the procedure right away and i feel and hear 100 times better, surgeys were proformed by him in his office. I highly recommend doc prufer to any one who has hearing and sinus issues !!!
One of the best doctors I've been to.
Very Polite and knowledgable.
Dr Prufer was great and addressed all of my concerns. I would definitely return! However, when I was sent downstairs to have my tests done I was treated like garbage. The technician was rushing and mumbling. She tried to hand me an instrument and then wanted me to hand it back to her but I did not hear her. She accused me of not being able to understand her indian accent by saying "Do you not understand the way I talk or something?" No Ma'am, I understand you, but you are mumbling and it's impossible to hear you because you aren't looking at me. I don't appreciate being treated that way by anyone and she should go through a serious attitude adjustment. Other than that everything was great.
Doctor services was excellent, I am very thankful to him.
I went to see this doctor because I am experiencing some pain in one of my ears when I lay on it. After giving all my information and filling out the required paperwork, I was seen right away. The doctor seemed nice, we made small talk. The problem began when he said he needed to clean my ear of wax. After putting some drops in my ear, he vacuumed it all out with a device. This is when things started to go downhill, since I lost part of my hearing afterwords. Even though I did tell him, that I can't hear to my affected ear, he told me it was ok, it will go away, and sent me to a hearing test. I don't see the point of a hearing test, if I can't hear to one of my ears properly.... After doing the hearing test - of course, the results showed that one of my ears was not as good as the other one-, I mentioned to the nurse - the lady who did my hearing test- what happened, to which she replied : "The doctor will help you. It's important that you don't think this way". She clearly did not understand that it was the doctor who was the cause of my problem in the first place. She just gave me the standard "it all starts within" healing speech. Of course this just made me angrier. By the time I went to see the doctor, I was livid. But I calmed myself down, so I wouldn't sound like a lunatic. After I pointed out that I still can't hear, the doctor told me that the hearing test showed that my left ear -the one he cleaned- does not work as well as the right one. He also mentioned that it may take a couple of hours/days for my hearing to come back. As to my original condition, he had no idea what the problem was, and prescribed steroids, saying that I my nose was inflamed. He also said that I should come back for another hearing test the following week, just in case. To be fair, he may be right, and hopefully my hearing will come back. I still think he should have warned me about this possibility - obviously I would have declined - , and should not have sent to a hearing test after I told him my issue. And finally, the fact, that he wants me to do another hearing test, only shows that he is not sure his procedure did not damage anything. I had asked him to check again just in case, to which he said that he would have to vacuum my ear again to see if it is not some fluid stuck in their that he had used when cleaned it .It has been more than 2 hours since this, and I still can't hear properly. Do NOT go to to this doctor, he is an amateur!
Great staff. Thank you guys!
They made me wait more than 2 hours. Appointment took 10 mins. Doctor rushed me, couldn't even ask questions. I told him I was having headaches. He looked inside my nose and told me to get a cat scan and come back. They did some cleaning and testing. Cleaning was a joke didn't do anything. You could do that at home, just get a ocean water and clean your nose. Testing was even worse you have to breathe and they record which they didn't tell me the result or anything about it at all. Later I realized they do these things to be able to charge you more. I saw the bill and I couldn't believe my eyes. You can buy a top notch laptop for that price. They are asking me to pay 1/4 of the bill because insurance didn't cover the whole thing. I wonder why. Do yourself a favor and find a professional who doesnt operate like a take out place.
The office staff was very pleasant, the doctor was a little awkward. Professional, but awkward
my visit was great! Dr. Prufer was very nice, helpful and professional. it was my 1st time to use zocdoc and i didnt think it would be as hasle-free and easy. im so glad i found zocdoc and dr. prufer! :)
Good bedside manner and helpful. Would see again.
Que me iba a chequear y me mandaría a sacar exámenes, pero fue muy concreto eso me gustó del doctor, quede muy feliz al escogerlo.
The staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient. Dr. Prufer was very nice and very professional. He explained everything and made me feel at ease. I would recommend him and his staff highly and I look forward to my next visit.
Dr. Prufer and the woman who performed the hearing test were both very kind and took the time to explain my problem in terms I could understand. The receptionists seemed a bit distracted and like they didn't care about patients in the office. It was a bit uncomfortable to hear one of the receptionists talk rudely to a patient that was hard of hearing and then make fun of that patient with another receptionist later.
Very professional young doctor. Has a no-nonsense approach. Works fast and gives good tips on how to avoid problems in the future. I can recommend him.
Very quick and helpful, listened and was very responsive
Excellent bedside manner, answered to all my concerns, dug to the root of my problems. I am happy to have found such a great ENT.
It was an excellent visit with doctor
He is very nice person ,a good doctor and was a surprise he speak Spanish
I had to wait about an hour on my first visit but they've apologized to me many times. I waited about 15-20 minutes on my second visit and that's fine. The doctor was very nice and friendly! Recommended.
Very knowledgable doctor, very friendly staff.
First time appt with Dr Prufer. I was seen relatively quickly. I found him to explain everything really well and very accommodating with offering to do a procedure right away. He's also the first doctor to figure out my hearing issue since childhood. Just wish someone figured it out 20+ years ago! Office staff were pleasant too.
It was a very posititve experience.
Loved it !!!!!!!
Waiting area was small and wait was ~1.5 hours.
The office was small and cramped but the doctor was wonderful and got me in and out of there really quickly and I thought he was really thorough. The office staff was really nice and helpful as well.
He was gentle and looks kind an honest .
The doctor is very knowledgeable of his area. He answered all my questions and took care of my problem immediately. Even though he looks so young, I will have surgery with confidence.
Very nice. Very professional. Very knowledgable. Highly recommend him.
He was good in general, I just wish he'd have spent an extra 3-5 minutes just explaining what's causing the TMJ disorder and how all my symptoms fit that diagnosis.
It was ok and kind of quick, maybe was my first visit that's why. I will have to follow up. Let see.
Very professional and a very nice doctor
Dr. Prufer is very knowledgeable. I like a doctor who educates his patients.
The best ENT doctor for me so far. Friendly and accommodating staff. Keep it up. Thanks
If I have to see a ear nose and throat doctor I will see dr Neil prufer , thank god and thank u all

Excellent doctor, very informative. And with an excellent staff. Highly recommended.
I was very pleased with the Dr. And the entire staff. They were very professional and knowledgable
Great - he explained everything. Answered my questions and was fast despite the many people in the office.
Excellent and highly satisfactory!!
He was great! Would definitely go back!
K fue muy buena y es muy profesional
