About Dr. Ngoc Vu

Dr. Vu has been serving patients in Northern Virginia since 2000. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland in 1991. She attended the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in Baltimore, where she earned her M.D. degree. Dr. Vu completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware. She pursued her Allergy and Immunology training at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she trained with leaders in adult and pediatric allergy and immunology. In 2000, she moved to Virginia and joined Allergy Partners Herndon-Reston where she has been in private practice ever since. She was named as “Top Docs” in the Washingtonian Magazine and Northern Virginia Magazine. Her areas of special interest include food allergy, eczema, allergic rhinitis, eosinophilic esophagitis and asthma. Dr. Vu is married and together with her husband has four children. She truly understands the challenges of caring for a child with allergies as all four of her children suffer with various forms of allergies including allergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergies and eczema. Dr. Vu enjoys reading, traveling, playing the piano and playing tennis with her husband and children.

Will never be going back. Dr. Ngoc Vu. She had no bedside manners. Became frustrated when I asked questions. When she would ask background or medical questions she would ask twice with “never?”, or further questioning my initial response which was odd and made me feel uncomfortable. After the questions she abruptly stopped the questions and said “get on the table” but never told me why or what to expect next? It seemed rude and inconsiderate of my body, ability to consent and dignity. When I asked what an exam entailed she repeated “it is an exam, I am a doctor and when you go to a doctor you get an exam”. I explained I wanted to know what the steps to the exam were and she appeared frustrated by that. Awful experience. I ended up walking out without getting treatment or what I needed from the appointment. Very disappointing, especially since I wanted to get blood work for a food allergy so I would know if I was ok to eat certain foods this weekend for my wedding anniversary dinner.

One of the best experiences I’ve had with a doctor, ever. I was seen within a couple minutes of entering and my allergy tests began right away. Dr. Vu was kind and extremely thorough and clear about my results and the plan going forward.
I saw Dr. Vu for the first time to get an allergy test due to a bizarre allergic reaction I had recently. I explained that it was my first time ever having a reaction/going through this process and the whole thing felt very rushed. She went through everything much faster than my liking (and there was a lot of information to process). Her demeanor wasn’t friendly or warm in the slightest which really put me off. It was clear she wanted me out of that office as quickly as possible, which I understand as she likely sees several patients daily, but I didn’t appreciate that considering this was a new and uncomfortable experience for me. I would’ve appreciated better bedside manner and genuine care when explaining things. As I mentioned before, I made it clear that I never had any previous allergies and it seemed like there was information I was almost expected to know. Her nurses and office staff were nice though and I was seen pretty much immediately.
The people here are wonderfully informative. The doctor was very thorough and Jane was very kind and had the best bedside manner. I had an allergy test done and I had a minor reaction and they calmly helped me over the phone and had me come back just to make sure I was ok. I look forward to going back to them and sorting out my allergies

Dr. Vu and the staff at Allergy Partners Herndon-Reston are incredibly kind and helpful! Dr. Vu took more time to explain things than any doctor I've had before and made sure I fully understood my options scheduling appointments is easy and flexible.
Best medical experience ever! I highly recommend Dr Vu. Dr Vu is wicked smart, focused and caring. Her entire staff are friendly and very competent. I've been to multiple appointments with her and a two or three minute wait has been the norm. The caring really sets her apart from others I've seen. I was scheduled for another, patch test a month from my last appointment. (it would take a month for my back to heal from the last one). To my surprise, her staff called me a week before the appointment and said that Dr Vu had been thinking about my case and devised a different plan of action that would potentially cause me me less discomfort. "Thinking about my case" three weeks after my last appointment is something I have never experienced. To her, I wasn't just another patient she would see during her busy day to evaluate, prescribe a pretty standard procedure, and move on. To her I am an individual with a problem to solve. I have become allergic to many things late in life and she is trying to find out what medicines I will be able to use in the future. The new process she devised will take more time but the potential for discomfort will be almost zero. I mentioned this to a group of my friends later and one of them said that, coincidentally, he has been seeing Dr Vu for his allergy issues for quite some time and he had a similar experience with her. We both love her!
As a long-time patient, this is always a fantastic visit! The clinicians are amazing, knowledgable and professional. The entire staff is very friendly and efficient. They have done a wonderful job managing my allergies and the office experience is excellent.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vu's for several years. I was referred from my primary care physician given my specific health issue as she is known to specialize in this area. She is an excellent doctor who is thorough, an expert in her field, and diligent in finding solutions for her patients. She takes the time to listen, review your case file, and continue to find ways to alleviate symptoms. The office staff are great! The customer service has been excellent with ease of scheduling, as well as regular follow up from the front office staff and nurses whenever there has been a change either initiated from them or me. The team at Allergy Partners in Herndon is the best! Literally. I do not think there is a better medical office, across any practice, in the country. The entire experience, from making an appointment to in-office experience, is seamless. The fact that they truly care about their patients is evident through it all. Coming from a family of doctors, I do not say this lightly: Dr. Vu might be the single best allergist in the country. How can I make such a bold statement? Well, I saw some of the most highly esteemed allergists (including the editor of the textbook for Allergy and Immunology fellows at John's Hopkins), and they could not figure out what why I was breaking out in hives for years. Dr. Vu did. She is not like other allergists. She WILL get to the root of the problem (she won't stop until she does), and use a data and research based approach to figure out the best solution. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank God for Dr. Vu!!!
