This was my first visit and I am impressed so far. I have been on a mission to find an allergist since moving to the city recently. I have spoken with several who are highly rated and Dr Simonte was the most knowledgeable. He is also a good listener, very intelligent and personable. He spends quality, unrushed time with his patients. He is the only one who offered me solutions to my unusual problem. I'm optimistic he can help me.

Can't book follow up appointments via Zocdoc. They don't take credit or debit cards. Other than that everything was great.

Decided to see Dr. Stadtmauer based on reviews and availability. I made the appointment and was able to see him next day. He listened to my saga of other allergists I’ve seen and told him how I’ve been told I’m allergic to shellfish for the past 10 years. Since I showed him bloodwork saying I wasn’t he told me to go get shellfish and eat it in his office. Stayed there for 3.5 hours eating shrimp with him observing me. And sure enough I left there realizing I’m not allergic to shrimp! Will absolutely keep him as my main allergist and keep going back to him to test food samples to see if I’m allergic or not. But overall I recommend him. He and his staff are great and personable.

Dr. Lubitz is a great doctor. I have been going to him for over 20 years. He is kind, caring, and goes above and beyond. I highly recommend him. Also, my wait time a little long-less than 30 minutes, because allergy season has been out of control in NYC, and Dr. Lubitz spends time with you to insure proper treatment.

New York Allergists

An allergist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases. They are specially trained to identify any triggers to allergies and asthma. To practice as an allergist, an individual completes a three-year postgraduate residency program in either internal medicine or pediatrics, followed by another two or three years of study in the field of allergy and immunology. Many substances can cause an allergic reaction; this happens when the immune system responds aggressively to something typically harmless. Some of the most common substances that cause allergies include pollen, molds, dust, pets, cockroaches, food, medicines, insect stings and feathers. Read comprehensive information on various types of allergies provided by the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Asthma

Asthma is a condition that makes the airways swell and narrow, making it difficult to breathe. It can be a significant issue for many, causing disruptions in daily activities and can even be life-threatening. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, chest tightness, disturbance in sleep patterns, wheezing sounds when exhaling, and incessant coughing. Your doctor might conduct a physical exam and recommend lung function tests to confirm the diagnosis. Several other tests can also help the doctor make a definite diagnosis, like nitric oxide tests, methacholine challenge tests, imaging tests, and allergy tests for pollen, mold, dust and pets. The treatment plan will depend on your age, symptoms you're experiencing and asthma triggers. Allergies are incurable, but the symptoms can be managed. Read more about asthma on the Mayo Clinic website.
