Dr. Mitchell obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. His M.D. is from The University of S. California. His OB/GYN residency was completed at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He is a member of the Cobb County Medical Society. Wellstar Kennestone Hospital is the hospital where he performs surgery and where he is Proctor for Female Pelvic Floor Urogynecology Procedures as well as Proctor for the da Vinci Robotic Gynecologic Procedures. He currently has an active GYN practice in Marietta and has since 1970.
He serves in many arenas in his community. Good Samaritan Health Clinic of Cobb County, which is a non-profit medical and dental clinic for low income workers, is where he gives much of his time. For 12 years he served as chairman of the Cobb County Health Department. In 1995 and 1998 he served in Tenwek, Kenya and performed OB/GYN services. Dr. Mitchell is an active member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church where he has served as both a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was the Founder of Young Life in Cobb County/Marietta and the Director of Urban Ministry Fellowship. He teaches a semi-monthly couples Bible Study and facilitates for two weekly men’s accountability groups.
He and his wife Nancy have four children (3 girls, 1 son.) They have eleven grandchildren (9 girls, 2 boys). They have two Border collie dogs (both females!)
His hobbies include golf, tennis, skeet shooting, reading and wood working.

I've been seeing Dr. Mitchell for over 25 years He delivered my daughter and today he is also her Dr. What I appreciate most abt him is his honest "here it is attitude". And his staff is fantastic! I've always said he better not retire before I die!
