The appointment was smooth sailing. Not a long wait time. It was all almost too perfect.

The online form was useless -- the staff reported that they had no access to it and besides it was the wrong form.
Dr. Cooper was recommended by my Orthopedic doctor.

Once seen everything was very efficient. Long wait time from appointment time to actually seeing doctor.
Relatively short wait times, everyone was really nice, and overall very enjoyable experience.

This review is long overdue. Dr. Cooper significantly improved my quality of life on December 12, 2012, when he performed the STAR ankle replacement surgery. I had been suffering for many years from debilitating end-stage ankle arthritis due to a traumatic break at the age of 18. Dr. Cooper was recommended by a colleague, and I am sharing this review in the hopes that others might benefit from his expertise. Over twelve years later, I remain very satisfied with my replacement. While it may not be perfect, it has enabled me to walk, bike, and manage household chores—activities that many people often take for granted. Thank you, Dr. Cooper.

Busy day 30 minute wait . Got referral i needed for replacement orthotics. They did have wrong xrays which Dr. Recognized right away.

I came to Dr. Cooper with a poorly healing ankle repair done by another surgeon. I felt confidence in him at the time during the visit, but upon reflection I feel he was much too hasty in recommending further surgery right away. I postponed, and my ankle finally really started to heal. I realize I may need more surgery one day, but I think it was questionable to recommend an ankle replacement while I was still recovering from the previous surgery, and the trajectory was unknown. I got 2 other surgical opinions, both of whom were more conservative than he was.

Cons: Getting an appointment at MedStar -Georgetown Foot and Ankle takes too long when someone has had an acute injury. Injury happened due to a combination of ankle stressors between 12/28 to 1/5-6th but when I tried to schedule an acute appointment with Dr. Cooper I could not be seen until 2/6/2025. So I saw another Ortho & ended up seeing another Ortho and using this as a 2nd opinion. I try to be loyal to Georgetown - but it seems impossible for acute care services

Paul Cooper is the real deal. This is still a pre-op review but he is one of the smarter and honest surgeons I have met with. The news was bad, but I feel I am in the right place to get my lousy ankle fixed.
Dr. Cooper and the Foot & Hand team at Georgetown University Hospital are professional and kind. I appreciated Dr. Paul Cooper’s time to listen and speak with me about my bunion and hammer toe surgery. I had questions about potential risks and concerns about the timeline Dr. Cooper, Seresa and Andrea were really responsive.
An excellent Doctor and his assistant was also!

Dr. Cooper is a leading orthopedic surgeon in this country and he has provider excellent care for my ankle ever since a major accident in 2008. I have been lucky to be associated with him and his competent assistants.
Verified patient
I’ve been seeing Dr. Cooper since 2011 when he fixed my broken ankle that another orthopedic surgeon failed miserably at his attempt to repair. I had a plate removed in 2020 and will be getting an ankle replacement in May. I would recommend Dr. Cooper to anyone with foot and ankle injuries and problems
Verified patient
No wait time , this was my second time
Verified patient
I started with an assistant who took my information, then went for an x ray . The doctor then met with me and asked questions, gave a suggestion to what might be the problem but recommended MRI to make sure. I will be getting the MRI and then go back. The doctor also recommended I bring in all my orthotics at me return visit o make sure they are correct. I would recommend him to others assuming my next visit is also a good experience.
Verified patient
Great experience it was a quick and easy appointment, but also not rushed. I was given time to ask any questions and the doctor sat with me through each question and I feel like I had all the information I wanted before I left.
Dr. Cooper was extremely knowledgeable, yet approachable. I have a complicated orthopedic history. I brought the records to the appointment and he read and easily digested them, to discuss my options. I particularly appreciated that unlike many doctors, I was not rushed into setting a surgery date. I also thought Dr. Cooper’s staff was very friendly and also knowledgeable. I had X-rays taken. In short, I went to Dr. Cooper for a second opinion and found more that I thought his opinion was first tier.

Dr. Cooper is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in our country . About 15 years ago, he saved my foot which was badly hurt and suffered the bone infection in nick oftime.
Verified patient
Despite a long wait after my arrival, Dr. Cooper took all the time necessary to conduct a careful exam, requested and promptly reviewed important ankle x-rays beyond those I brought, and explained very clearly the nature of the problem and reasons for his recommended treatment. He answered all questions directly and concisely, without confusing medical jargon. Dr. Cooper inspires confidence, combining professionalism with empathy and occasional touches of humor.
Dr. Cooper was straight to the point, which works well for me. He seemed to be very knowledgeable, and was able to answer my questions honestly.
Verified patient
Dr Cooper's expertise is demonstrated by his ability to quickly evaluate, identify the problem/issue and recommend a solution. He communicates what needs to be done and expectations from treatment/surgery

Great doc and staff. Only negative is long wait time to be seen but that is to be expected. Parking is very confusing but so much construction.
Verified patient
They have a one stop shop wish is nice.
Verified patient
Needed to see an orthopedic MD for consultation for back pain but was aligned to foot specialist. Was given referral to a sports med physician.
Verified patient
Every thing is excellent except front office who has to be friendly and courteous, people are there because they are in pain or problem
Verified patient
I had very thorough X-rays taken of my ankle which was very comforting. I was relieved to hear there was no fracture. Dr. Cooper was nice and got straight to the point. He gave me a prescription to help inflammation and physical therapy and sent me on my way. :) He was awesome. I highly recommend him!

Great visit
Verified patient
Dr. Cooper was quick, clear, and incredibly nice and professional. I was told by another orthopedic office that he’s the best in the DMV for foot and ankle and I definitely agree! Highly recommend him, and the medical assistant who took care of me was wonderful as well.
