About Dr. Quoc Anh Nguyen

Dr. Nguyen joined Doctors First as a staff physician in December 2020. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands. He completed a residency in family medicine at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Dr. Nguyen is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Born in Vietnam, Dr. Nguyen lived most of his life growing up on the west coast of Washington State. In 2013, he relocated to South Carolina, where he practiced Urgent Care Medicine and Family Medicine. He recently moved to Maryland to be with his family. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling the world to learn new cultures and savor a variety of ethnic foods. Growing up on the coast, he naturally developed an affinity for beaches. He loves football and follows the Seattle Seahawks. You might spot him jogging with his dog Dumbo in his free time.

I went to see this Dr Nguyen for only three issues: 1) cold with sore throat and running nose, 2) elevated B12 concern based on blood test result, and 3) acnes on my face, however, Dr Nguyen stated an additional issue “generalized anxiety disorder” in my visit summary with no reason. We didn’t discuss anything about mental and Dr Nguyen didn’t prescribe any mental related medicine to me. I contacted their office twice and sent an email to Dr Nguyen for correcting the summary and requesting for an explanation on the false accusation of anxiety disorder, but neither the office nor Dr Nguyen replied to me in two days!! I highly NOT recommend this doctor and this office to anyone due to their lack of professionalism.

The provider is a poor listener.
I have a Japanese last name so I was really surprised that the first thing that he said was was I Ethiopian? There were a lot of unnecessary things said like "no disrespect" frequently.... I think he's probably a really great doctor but should open up his own practice where he is more comfortable and has patients that frequent him.
Overall I was 10 minutes late and I was still seeing so I'm grateful to him for that. Just a few too many extra comments for me. I did also have to bring my kid with me that day and he didn't really acknowledge my child either.

I tried to book a virtual appointment. Text and called the office leaving messages repeatedly. No one got back to me. An hour before the appointment I finally got someone on the phone who switched it to virtual. I was told I needed to switch the PCP with my insurance bu end of day. Never got anyone showing how to get on the virtual appointment. Had to call 15 minutes after the appointment to get a link. After all this trouble, a person comes on and tells me I cannot be seen because the PCP had to be switched first. I explained that is not what I was told. She said the call center doesn't know how things work. I called the office not call center. I asked if I could be seen and do it after the appointment because this was my only free time and she plainly said, no. I will not be attempting to be seen here again. Very disappointed and a waste of a half of a day or more. Don't waste your time.

Dr. Nguyen was extremely unprofessional and for the first time in decades I felt unsafe with a medical provider. He accused me of trying to strong arm him. He kept saying, “you have a knife to my neck, you have a knife to my neck.” I froze in bewilderment and he concluded the conversation by telling me to go and talk to the front staff about my ongoing concerns. Literally he waived his hand in my face.
I was thankful someone at the front desk actually listened to my concerns. Only through this individual, I had bloodwork done the same day. All Dr. Nguyen kept saying was he was uncomfortable. I will never recommend him. I will be reporting this incident to relevant parties. Unbelievable, unacceptable and unprofessional.

The shortest physical exam in my life, and that after waiting nearly an hour. No normal talk about health concerns, just made lab paperwork and that was it. Once some lab results came out of normal no feedback was provided. Also despite my visit being super short I got charged for some sort of extra "risk assessment", not to mention overcharged on copay. Do not recommend.

Had to wait for almost an hour. Got overcharged on copay. The appointment itself which was a physical exam took barely few minutes. Doctor appeared to be in hurry. Felt like a waste of time. One day these physicals should be replaced by AI. Picked up paperwork (blood work order) and that was the only useful outcome of the visit.

Honestly, the way the Dr. Nguyen came into to the room and said “ what can I do for you?” Did not introduce himself. I told him my reason then he says well I need to make things clear. “I do not see anything or treat anything about the females area, if you have a problem and you call me about that I will hang up the call on you” also said “I would need to get an OBGYN or see another doctor” it was so disrespectful to me and honestly don’t know why he is a doctor period. At that point I just wanted to walk out and see another provider. He doesn’t care about the patient or actually listen to the patient. He also said “ if you need refills on medication I can help you with that but that’s about it.” Working in the medical field I’ve never encountered a disrespect from a provider the way I did today. Would never go back to see him.

I have mixed feelings about Dr. Nguyen. On one hand, he seems knowledgeable, has a cordial and gentle personality, and I liked the office staff and nurses. On the other hand, it felt like my appointment was a bit rushed, and that he didn't show deep interest in my ailments. He ended up referring me to a Urologist for an issue I was having, which was the correct choice. But I felt like he was passing me off to the Urologist and then it's like good luck, have fun, I'll see you next year. I believe his exact quote was "There's nothing more I can do for you." So while I felt that he took the steps to accurately diagnose my issue and has sent me in the right direction, I also feel like I was left out there a bit. I would prefer a primary care doctor that shows interest in how I'm doing, wants to follow up or just call to see how it's going.
