About Dr. Rachel Westbay
Dr. Rachel Westbay is a respected and sought after board-certified dermatologist in clinical practice on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. With a primary focus on cosmetic and general dermatology, she excels at the use of injectables and is also highly proficient in laser surgery, as well as other minimally and non-invasive cosmetic procedures, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), thermal skin tightening, body contouring and tumescent liposuction. Her clinical expertise also encompasses complex medical and inpatient dermatology, a result of thorough training in the use of advanced systemic therapies and immunodermatology. At Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. Westbay serves as clinical instructor and teaches the dermatology residents once monthly in cosmetic clinic. She is also revered for her comprehensive board reviews, which she lectures the residents on throughout the year and which have earned her several of Mount Sinai’s coveted “Teacher of the Year” awards.
Dr. Westbay graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She earned her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., where she also graduated magna cum laude. She completed her medicine internship at North Shore University Hospital / Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she was awarded “Intern of the Year,” and thereafter returned to Georgetown University to complete her dermatology residency and organize the cosmetic curriculum.
A sought after skincare and beauty media expert, Dr. Westbay’s expert opinions are routinely published in both print and electronic media. An active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Dr. Westbay has lectured on general, inpatient and cosmetic dermatology at local and national meetings. She is also well-published in several peer-reviewed journals and has authored several textbook chapters in dermatology.
