I met with one of the nurse practitioners for an annual checkup. She was very nice and knowledgable. She took her time with me and made me feel very comfortable. Highly recommend!
Walked into a stuffy office to be told that there would be a 30 minute wait - why even make appointments or show up on time when there is always a wait?
Twice I went and waited over an hour to be seen. Not going back, finding another primary care doctor.
Dr Mitelman has been my primary care doctor for over 11 years and my entire family goes to her practice at Gramercy. She is always attentive, trustworthy, and honest in dealing with my health problems. She worries more about my health and refers me to other specialists if necessary. Like with any relationship, it takes years to build trust and open communication with a provider. Dr Mitelman has been that dependable doctor for me and unknowingly her practice became an important part of my health. The office can be very busy at times but the wait is not long in my opinion compared with other clinics. I also loved that Dr Mitelman is using Patient Fusion database to communicate your lab results and discuss treatment/ new prescriptions. Quite an effective way of using e-charting technology and communicating through the web. The office manager (Vera) and nurses (Marina & Lina) have been in the practice for years. As always, these wonderful women also take good care of me in terms of follow ups, paper works, prescription refills, and referrals. Thank you ladies! After 11 years, I can never thank Dr Mitelman enough for taking good care of me, my family, and friends.
came in for a regular physical and wasn't seen until about 45min later. didn't leave until about 75minutes later. office was old and didn't feel particularly clean.
Very attentive, very professional
Do not ever come here. I wish I had taken previous negative reviews of this practice more seriously. My wait time was extremely long even after I had communicated to the staff that I had to leave by a certain time. The receptionist and nurse were extremely rude, and I have never EVER been to a practice where the staff were this unapologetic about keeping you waiting for so long. Above all this, the practice is extremely dirty and unkempt. Would 100% never recommend.
Saw the nurse practitioner as I think the Dr was away. She was very sweet and helpful. I think the wait was so long because it was short staffed, which is understandable because of the holidays . Was happy I picked this location to start with a primary doctor!
I trust the doctor to talk me through all options and to listen to whatever details I think might be relevant.
The last couple of times I've been in the office I've had to wait an exceptionally long time. Last time I was waiting in my room so long I had to come out and see if I had been forgotten... This time I gave up after 45 minutes. I couldn't bother waiting any longer when I knew there were still three people in line in front of me. The personnel in the office have always been friendly, but the wait is just too long. I think my patience with them has run out.
Had a really busy day and had to wait nearly 1 hour for her to finish up other appointments for her to only see me for less than 20 minutes and give unsatisfactory advice. Google would have been more helpful + save me time.
The office wasn't very comfortable, and the dr's aide was a bit short/to the point. I have a latex allergy, and an allergy to adhesives, and the office did not have Nitrile gloves; only latex. The dr herself didn't take time to read-over my information or she would have seen that I have these allergies and not proceeded to use the latex gloves.. or the dr asst, with the regular bandaid. All in all she was a very kind dr. I would just say the manner of things there is a bit unprofessional. The dr asst also did not have a sterile place for the tools she used for my blood draw, and put them on the bed thing I have my exam on without getting rid of the old paper first. I always suggest having your own personal experience, and not simply going off of one person's review/experience. Every day is a new opportunity for the business to improve. Date 11/2016
DO NOT GO HERE. This was the worst dr. visit I've *ever* had - a bizzarre and rattling experience. While asking about my symptoms, the nurse practitioner asked me if I had come in looking for Adderall. I've never had a nurse / doctor assume I was coming in seeking drugs v. looking to get better. I was so shocked that I actually started crying. Once I told her "no" she seemed embarrassed and apologized throughout our discussion. On top of this, the nurse had a terrible attitude and no bedside manner (she actually got annoyed at me for swabbing my cheek v. my nose). I was so uncomfortable that I actually stopped the visit short and got a prescription to have my blood drawn at a clinic. I honestly wasn't sure if the nurse would intentionally hurt me during the blood drawing...good time to leave. At the end, the doctor suggested that maybe I had misunderstood the nurse because of cultural miscommunication and furthermore, she thought I might be depressed because of how I reacted. The suggestion didn't once take into account how I felt and was such an inappropriate statement from a nurse. I've honestly never heard of anything like it. In case you're wondering, I've never suffered from depression, taken Adderall or had an experience anywhere near this.
Everyone in the office worked together and it felt like a small family practice rather than a conveyer belt of prescriptions and quick advice. I got my questions answered, my blood drawn, my results given to me, and my travel shots administered. I came in to get a consultation prior to my travel to India. I'll be back here, but hopefully not too soon!
This office is filthy. I refused bloodwork because there was no way I was having a needle stuck in my arm with the way that place looked. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Overall, a great experience. I met with the nurse practitioner and she was very thorough!
The office is unsightly and the staff was disorganized. I waited for an hour and the staff kept assuring me that the doctor would be with me soon. I told them that I had a meeting to attend soon, and they telling me to stay just a bit longer. I ended up being there for about 2 hours and was late to my meeting. The doctor was somewhat helpful in that I got the prescriptions that I needed. That said, she made some off-handed remarks and had a bit of an attitude. She criticized my psychiatrist's diagnoses, despite her limited qualifications. I definitely wouldn't recommend Dr. Mitelman, or the practice in general, unless you were in a pinch.
Although the wait was long, the visit was worth it. Dr. Mitelman was impeccably thorough and diagnosed a couple of issues via a routine exam.
Had a great appointment! Everyone was nice and my appointment was on time. Quick and professional!
Very proffessional Doctor and office. Very frienddly and nice medical assistats I was very happy with the Dr Raisa Mitelman medical consultation.
I was frustrated by my visit because they weren't straightforward with me. The office was dirty and looked like it was falling apart, yet they spent money on things like having a blue light in the sink to make the water look like it was bright blue. I was told to remove my shirt in a freezing cold office with no explanation as to why I needed to be topless. When I explained that I'd just been examined the week prior at my gynecologist's office, they still insisted that I take my top off, still with no explanation as to what they would be doing. Both the doctor and nurse separately looked surprised and annoyed with me that I would ask that question. The "physical" was just height, weight, putting everything into a computer that I'd already filled out online ahead of time, and blood pressure. They didn't ask me any real questions or have any interest in knowing me. Anytime I tried to say something that either dismissed me, and I don't think the person examining me even looked at me the entire time I was in the office. I now have my blood results via their online portal, with zero explanation of any of the results that are listed as too high or too low.
I recently moved to NYC and used Zocdoc to find a doctor that would be my new primary Doctor and also refill my current medication. Dr. Raisa was very nice and very knowledgable. She was very patient and answered all my of questions. I would recommend her as a primary doctor for someone who just moved to the city.
Great! Everyone was very nice, the nurse was so sweet and the doc was amazing, full of info and made the visit an overrall great experience.
All my questions were answered, even about issues unrelated to my current health complaint. I feel I was thoroughly and appropriately questioned, examined, and tested. I was well-taken care of.
Punctual, was seen at the exact moment of my appointment. Staff was friendly and highly efficient. Most of all, listened to me. Very happy, will repeat.
Very caring, friendly and professional
I have been with Dr Mitelman many years and would recommend her to anyone, she is truly excellent. Her long time assistant, Vera, is always helpful, patient and pleasant. The receptionist at the front desk, Alyssa, is brusque, bordering on rude, but she is efficient. An issue that needs to be rectified is that Zocdoc schedules an appointment with Dr Mitelman, but the actual appt is with her associate Dr Cham. Thankfully she is also wonderful but it is misleading.
Busy practice. If it matters to you, staff all seem to be Eastern European which works well for me as I prefer pragmatism and straightforward/no frills when it comes to medicine. If you need to feel like you're in a spa when you go to the doctor then this isn't the place. But they're still very caring. When I told them I have a history of fainting after blood work they laid me down on an exam table to draw blood, they didn't just say "aww, be careful when you stand up" which is the usual response I get.
I met with Dr. Betty Chang. She was a delight! Very informative, helpful, excellent bedside manner, a delight to be with. Will recommend her to all my friends.
I loved it! the nurse and doctor were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable...
overcharged. Very weird bill. I should have full insurance covered.
I went here to get a sore throat checked out. It took a long time to be seen. The doctors English was fine but she often hesitated to think of the right word. The strep test seemed to be done with outdated equipment - a tab was dipped into a small plastic vial with the swab to determine the outcome.
Nurse was great, very thorough and helpful.
My visit was quick and painless. I was able to get in and out in an hour. Everyone I met was very agreeable, and everything went well!
Haven't been to the doctor in years but this was a very pleasant visit. I had already filled out my forms online so when I went to the front desk they checked me in and I waited maybe 10 minutes before going into the room. The nurse saw me first and I waited maybe another 15 minutes before the doctor came in. It was for a general check-up followed up with some blood work--I was in and out in about 45 minutes. The staff was friendly and made me feel comfortable. The nurse could tell I was NOT liking the blood process and tried to take my mind off the fact that I had a needle in my arm by chatting about my summer. I will definitely be back again.
The nurses and doctors at this medical practice are excellent. They listen to your concerns and help you develop an appropriate treatment plan. I also love that they use an online medical records system so it especially easy to check on lab results and confirm appointments. Highly recommend!
I've had my fair share of not so great primary care doctors, but I'm really glad my friend recommended Dr. Mitelman to me. Wait time wasn't too long, although was a little lengthy for the few people in there. The staff, the doctor, and especially the nurse who saw me were all very kind. I highly recommend them and I'm glad I found them.
Great overall experience. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, good office in a convenient location. Hardly any wait time at all.
This was my second visit to Dr. Mitelman, and it was a great experience. I was in and out of the office in 30 minutes, got 2 vaccines and blood work done. No wait time. She's a great doctor and the other staff is great too.
I waited for about 30 minutes but once she came in she was very caring and helpful.
Excellent and very thorough
I couldn't wait an hour to get seen by the doctor, so I cancelled the appointment.
slow gut thorough!
Booking the appointment was surprisingly easy and quick. I filled out all of my forms online, so I was able to walk right into the doctors office. NO WAIT TIME. The doctors and staff are all so pleasant and caring, I felt as if I they were all long time family friends.
Dr. Mitelman was wonderful, very caring as a doctor and staff. Highly recommended. Thank you
She is the only M.D at her pratice. I have been seeing her team and her practice for over a decade -- as the years go by, it's gone down hill. The staff is unprofessional and rude. They only converse in Russian and are not very warm. If you're trying to find a new internal medicine doctor, please spare yourself and find someone else who is kinder and more welcoming and who has time to address your concerns.
I think my visit wen very well and I am considering to keep her as my primary doctor.
I was waiting for about an hour and a half and the staff/dr mainly spoke in another language which is annoying then made me wait even longer before sending me somewhere else, and never told me what was causing my pain or what to do about it
I was helped by a number of Dr. Mitelman's staff, all of whom were warm and lovely.
The staff was amazing and very thorough!
Dr. Mitelman was very nice and had great bedside manners. However, I was waiting in the room to see her for about an hour. I finally went out to see if I was going to be seen soon, and only then did she come to my room. I even arrived before my appointment time and was seen then, but was waiting for the doctor for an hour after my appointment time.
Receptionist was very rude- could not tell me how long the wait would be. She seemed aggravated that I even asked her. This doctor overbooks patients and then expects you to wait two hours just to see a nurse. Very unprofessional.
Overall a good experience but the wait time was high. I really like the doctor.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They take blood work right in the office which is convenient, and called me back with a prescription for Vitamin D only a week later. Biggest issue was the wait time - I had a 5:30pm appointment and had to wait until 7:15pm to be seen. Talked to other patients in the waiting room, and apparently this is common. But it's sometimes avoidable if you get an appointment first thing in the day.
Great office, friendly staff, A+
Although it took about 45 minutes for me to be seen for a physical, the nurse practitioner I had was great. Friendly, attentive, listened to all my questions, and made me feel comfortable. Would recommend!
Accuracy of treatment.
The wait time is out of control and unacceptable. This happens every time I come and it will be my last time here.
Warm staff, very fast.
It was a pretty uncomfortable experience. Both the care and diagnosis were unimpressive. I was surprised with a blood exam and then asked repeatedly if my insurance covered it. They caste a lot of doubt on me even though I was pretty positive when I came in I had adequate insurance.
If you speak Russian, than this may be a great office for you! Unfortunately if you don't, I noticed that the office staff is a little less welcoming and friendly. The office is older, and could really use an update on equipment. All that said, I will say that the P.A. that did my exam was very kind and had a nice energy
I did not see Dr. Mitelman at this visit, but instead was seen by her Physician's Assistant who was every bit as professional, caring and top notch as Dr. Mitelman. I know that Dr. Mitelman was consulted about my visit which made me feel more confident that I was in the right place for this visit. I would definitely recommend this office to my friends.
Wonderful experience: all the staff, including the doctors were friendly, kind and they took their time. Will go back again
I had to wait a considerable amount of time to see the doctor but it was this strange couple of weeks in October when everyone in NYC seemed to be sick, so I really can't fault the doctor for that. I ended up actually seeing the PA and she was fantastic. I'd definitely recommend her. Despite having a waiting room full of patients she took her time with me and provided what I thought was a personalized level of care. She answered all my questions and was very friendly. She also did some blood work which was quick and painless. Best part is they give you your results online which is nice.
Very private, comfortable and the duration was just perfect. Plenty of helpful and available staff, as well.
I arrived about 20 minutes early and was seen within about 5 minutes. I filled out my paperwork online with Zocdoc beforehand, so my forms were already done. I went with a specific issue and was in and out within about half an hour. They did blood work, which seemed a little strange/ more complete than most doctors I've seen. As other reviewers have noted, I was probably the only native English speaking patient there, which didn't really bother me. Everyone was really professional, friendly, courteous - I didn't feel out of place at all.
She was not particularly friendly and made me take a pee test to see if I was pregnant even though I told her there was no chance and it had nothing to do with the reason I was there. They also wanted to do a routine 1st time patient blood test, which again wasn't necessary, though they didn't press on that when I told them no. Also, she wasn't willing to work with me around my insurance, which so many caring doctor's have done for me before.
Mostly met with physician's assistant, who was fine. Receptionist is very rude and constantly annoyed.
Dr. Mitelman is a knowledgeable and thoughtful physician who if very thorough. She is an excellent diagnostician who thinks out of the box. she is also personable and caring and relates to her patients. I have gone to her for many years and highly recommend her.
The staff was very friendly and I didn't feel like they were rushing me out. I felt they generally cared about helping me. I would recommend to anyone to go here if they need a doctor.
She was great and answered my questions thoroughly... but I waited 1.5 hours to see her. I am really hesitant to go back, they seem to have this problem consistently based on other reviews.
Worst experience I've had with a doctor's office. Wait times are terrible most times. I have all kinds of difficulty getting my prescriptions filled even for my maintenance medications. Office staff is unhelpful. I'm never going back.
Thanks to the Dr team for professionalism! Konstantin cChedzhemov
It's was excellent
She was honest and thorough, but I was in the waiting room for an hour an a half and then the nurse brought me in for blood pressure etc. then it was anothe half an hour before I saw the Dr. So if your on any kind of schedule I wouldn't recommend her.
I waited for 45 minutes, went up and asked how much longer the receptionist though it would be. She told me there were two more patients in front of me. I left. Won't be going back!
I felt like the only native english speaking individual in the office, and that was uncomfortable to me. Also, the wait was FOREVER.
Very pleasant and thorough
Saw Dr Mitelman for the first time this month. She was pleasant enough and very thorough, but I probably wouldn't see her again.
Dr Mitelman was nice and considerate, better than I would have thought from some of the previous reviews. She insisted on doing a blood work up and physical exam, which was very thorough for having come in for some lingering pain issues.
Could have been a bit warmer in her bedside manner. Otherwise, a very knowledgeable and competent doctor.
Not a great bedside manner, the exam was quick and not very thorough. Office staff was friendly and accomodating. She did take many tests, did not say much or ask any questions. Will think about changing docs.
Excellent staff and thorough, thoughtful approach. The wait, however, was a bit much.
There was no communication between the secretary and the office, so there wasn't any warning about the wait times. This doctor could vastly improve how patients experience her practice simply by being honest about delays and contacting patients before they show up in the waiting room. If I'm home sick and you're an hour late, I'd rather stay in bed for that extra hour than spend it in the waiting room! Once you get in to see her, though, she's a professional and caring doctor.
she made me feel very comfortable talking about everything. Once I got in the examination room, everything went very smoothly and there was no down time. Her waiting room was very crowded by what seemed to be very satisfied customers. That made the wait feel worth it.
Dr. Mitelman was very attentive and professional. This was the most thorough and informative routine physical I have ever had. Highly reccomended.
The doctor is really good and professional, also very nice. strongly recommend, the only thing is that you have to wait, so don't plan to make it during your lunch, but it worth it to spend extra time and get real help
Although she was running an hour behind schedule (my appt was for 5:45pm and was not seen until about an hour later), I will most definitely return to Dr. Mitelman. While with me, she took the time to go over all of my questions and concerns and did not rush me. She even spoke to me for 10 minutes as I was checking out. Dr. Mitelman genuinely cares for her patients and you will see this first hand during your first visit. She is amazing and I highly recommend her!
