Aside from his career in the United States Navy, Dr. Charrier has lived in southeast Texas his whole life. He holds two bachelors degrees in Music and Biology and earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston.
As a naval officer, Dr. Charrier served as Director of the Specialty Contact Lens Clinic at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. While there, he served military members and their families in comprehensive and medical eye care as well as fit medically necessary contact lenses on patients with eye disease or trauma from the battle field.
In his time at the Naval hospital, Dr. Charrier routinely treated patients suffering from eye disease, war injuries, traumatic brain injuries and corneal diseases. Furthermore, he served as optometrist to our nation’s elite war fighters and pilots including SEALS and the famous Blue Angels.
In his career, Dr. Charrier has treated thousands of healthy as well as complicated patients and continues to have one of the largest specialty contact lens practices in the country.
Dr. Charrier is active in lecturing and research. He has held Associate Professor positions at Marshall B. Ketchum University, Pacific University, and currently at the University of Houston. It is common to see interns and residents training at the practice.

Dr. Charrier was fantastic and completely thorough! His advice was excellent and really helpful. I was concerned with my overall eye health because I am going back to grad school and the small print may really effect my vision in different ways. He was excellent with providing advice and timeline on when I should consider Lasik surgery as well and how to properly prepare for that the weeks leading up to that surgery. He took the time to explain my eye health and even showed me pics of my eye to make sure I understood what are good signs of eye health. It was awesome - I will definitely be back and will send my husband as well! Thanks Dr. C and team!

My husband has particularly difffcult vision issues, and Dr. Charrier spends loads of time figuring out the best options for optimum correction. Front desk, very kind and patient. Dr. Charrier was pleasant, patient, and willing to explain in lay terms, the medical concerns of my eyes and examination process. It was a true pleasure meeting him and his entire team. Office was quiet and calm, offered coffee and pastries while you wait. I didn't wait five minutes before I was called. Greeted as soon as I entered. Spot on hospitality, professionalism, and welcoming.

Dr. Charrier and his staff were very professional, thorough, and considerate. It had been a long time since I had an eye exam, but as far as I could tell the latest equipment and techniques were used. Dr. Charrier spent about 20 minutes explaining the results of the eye exam and possible options in terms eyeglasses with me, which was more time than I expected. I highly recommend his office to anyone.

The ladies working at the front desk were very friendly, professional and courteous. The gentleman who goes through the introduction information ("what brings you in today") was very personable and interactive. He asked questions to interact, rather than just mundane medical information. Dr. Charrier was incredibly friendly and informative. He explained things with sufficient detail and apparent enthusiasm in patient interaction. No one rushed through the appointment at any time, so I never felt like I was in a cattle call.
Everyone was very friendly, welcoming, and made me feel as though I was more than just another patient they were seeing today.
It was truly a wonderful medical experience, and I am very glad to have found this practice.

Dr. Charrier is very thorough. I have had trauma to both eyes, and have a circuit of four different eye specialists I see. Above all others, Dr. Charrier is by far my favorite. Not only is he extremely skilled and knowledgeable, he is kind, and patient with the complications my complex condition produces. I would recommend him to anyone.
