About Dr. Sophia Barnes
“When you enter our office, our patients say that it is a serene and happy atmosphere,” says Dr. Barnes. Patients leave happy because of the professional staff and the compassionate care at Vision Corner. Dr. Barnes uses the latest high-tech equipment, including Optos (which removes the need for dilation in most cases) and OCT, which can access patients' eyes to detect macular degeneration, tumors, detachments, and glaucoma much earlier than traditional eye doctors. “Every day, I'm saving sight,” she says.

We are the exclusive dealer for Chopard in the City of Houston. We also carry Maui Jim®, Cartier®, Tom Ford®, Olive Peoples®, Gucci®, Kirk and Kirk, and Silhouette. We also have Mont Blanc - the new Mont Blanc, not your father's old Mont Blanc. We continually get comments from our patients that Vision Corner has the best selection of frames in town.
Dr. Barnes is the trusted optometrist to treat many professional athletes, including those playing on professional basketball, soccer, baseball, and football teams. She also treats physicians and nurses in the Medical Center. “We are a medical-based practice,” she explains. “I am a therapeutic Optometric Glaucoma Specialist specializing in full-scope Optometry. I also see pediatric patients, perform contact lens exams and fittings, and see patients of all ages.” “We are a comprehensive eye care office,” explains Dr. Barnes. “We take our time with our patients, seeing them for 30 minutes versus 10 minutes with commercial chains. It makes a big difference.”
By spending increased time with patients, Dr. Barnes can pinpoint problems with their vision and help them preserve their sight for years to come. She warns patients of the dangers of blue light, which is emitted from computer screens, televisions, and smartphones.

If your top priority in selecting eye care is supporting an independently owned provider, this is your spot.
The doctor took major issue with the fact that I hadn't brought my previous prescription, something that hasn't ever been an issue in the 25 years of eye care I've received.
Due to her comportment and process, I had low confidence in the prescriptions I ultimately received. I felt compelled to have my eyes reexamined before ordering new glasses.

Amazing experience. I walked in for my first general eye exam in over 10 years. Everyone was polite, explained every step clearly, and assisted me in picking out the best set of frames.
All my questions were answered clearly. The atmosphere was clean, well maintained, and orderly.
Can't wait to get my new glasses!

Dr. Barnes was extremely kind and attentive. It was my first time there and seeing her, but the whole office was very friendly with minimal wait time. Dr. Barnes does a lot of medical eye treatment as well as eye exams, so if there is an emergency she is good to see as they accept walk inside. I left my previous eye place "America's Best" because of their last awful treatment, and I am happy that this visit with Dr. Barnes went so well so I have a new eye place for the future.

Amazing experience!! The doctor was so kind and made me so comfortable. She was so clear with her communication and radiated such good energy! The team was super helpful in helping me find the right glasses shape and were all so nice as well. Very clean facility, will definitely be back again. The doctor I saw was very nice, personable, listened to all my needs and requests, and definitely someone I would like to see again. The office is not friendly or welcoming, don't explain your benefits clearly or their products very well. Watch for charges that aren't explained to you ahead of time.

Dr. Barnes was so sweet. Her staff is just as kind. The practice is very clean and so nice. This was my first trip to the optometrist in years. They explained everything up front and clearly. They walked me through what all my insurance covered, as they helped me pick out frames (never had glasses). I will be back and would highly recommend her to anyone.
