AL
I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a Master's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from the University of South Alabama. I am deeply passionate about making a difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges. Over the past 14 years, I've had the privilege of working in various healthcare settings, from psychiatric care to infection prevention and clinical education. In the last two years, I've developed expertise in psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic interventions grounded in evidence-based practices. For me, mental health care isn't just a profession-it's a calling. I believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate, stigma-free support on their mental health journey. I take pride in working alongside patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to provide care that's not only effective but also deeply personalized. My goal is to advocate for those I serve, helping them find their way toward healing with empathy and understanding.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a new client working with me, here's what you can expect: Collaborative Partnership: I believe in working with you, not just for you. Together, we’ll explore your goals, concerns, and preferences to create a treatment plan that fits your unique needs. I value open communication and encourage you to be an active participant in your care. Compassionate Care: I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable discussing whatever is on your mind. Mental health care can be challenging, but you won’t go through it alone. I’m here to listen, support, and guide you. Flexibility & Understanding: I know that life can be unpredictable. If things come up or you feel unsure about your treatment plan, we can adjust. I’m committed to making sure our work together is both effective and adaptable to your evolving needs. I’m here to support you on your mental health journey, and I look forward to getting started together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first meeting, I’ll take time to understand you through a comprehensive evaluation. We’ll discuss your medical history, past mental health treatments, current concerns, and overall well-being. This helps me form an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. I may ask about: Mental health symptoms: How long they’ve been present and their severity. Personal and family history: To explore any genetic or environmental factors. Lifestyle and stressors: Your daily routine, relationships, and factors affecting your mental health. At the end of this session, I’ll explain my findings and recommend treatment options, which may include medication, therapy, or other interventions. Follow-up Sessions In follow-up sessions, typically 20-30 minutes long, we’ll: Monitor medication: Check how it’s working and address any side effects or dosage adjustments. Check progress: Review how you’re managing in daily life and any new challenges. Adapt treatment: Adjust your care plan to reflect any new concerns or changes. Talk Therapy While I focus on psychiatric evaluations and medication management, I incorporate elements of supportive psychotherapy. We’ll talk about your life, emotions, and coping strategies. For more in-depth therapy, I may refer you to a therapist or collaborate with one. Each session is an opportunity to assess your progress and make sure you’re on track toward improved mental health.
