Raised in New York and Arizona, Dr. Gottlieb was shaped by intergenerational experiences, including his father’s survival of World War II Europe. These early influences sparked his fascination with human complexity and led him from a childhood interest in space exploration to a lifelong journey into the mind.
Dr. Gottlieb earned his BS in Psychology from Arizona State University, his MD from the University of Arizona, and completed his residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He later earned a Doctor of Psychology in Psychoanalysis from the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute, complementing his cognitive therapy training with deep insight into unconscious patterns and emotional development.
Blending evidence-based cognitive techniques with psychoanalytic depth, Dr. Gottlieb tailors treatment to each client’s needs—whether that means managing symptoms or exploring deeper sources of distress. He encourages self-awareness, emotional growth, and long-term healing, always honoring each individual’s pace and goals.
Dr. Gottlieb remains passionate about his work because of the transformative change he witnesses in clients’ lives. Whether someone is navigating long-standing emotional struggles or seeking new personal insight, he supports their journey with empathy and expertise.
Outside of clinical work, Dr. Gottlieb enjoys traveling with his wife, staying active, attending live theater, and spending time with friends. He also has a unique interest in the UFO phenomenon, appreciating the mystery and wonder that still exist at the edges of science and the human experience.
