Richard was born in Columbus, Ohio, and lived there until age 16 when he moved with his family to Lake Havasu, Arizona, where he graduated high school. He attended college in Flagstaff, Arizona, for two years, married Barbara White, and had four beautiful children. He worked in landscaping and house painting, started his own landscaping business for five years, then joined the Army at age 30 as a dental specialist. He became a dental hygienist in the Army, was transferred to recruiting for three years in Las Vegas, before returning to the Dental Command to run the largest Army dental clinic as the Non-Commissioned Officer in charge for two years. He then applied for Physician Assistant School at Fort Sam Houston, TX.
Richard earned his Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. In 2008, he passed the National Physician Assistant Certification board and began practicing in the Army. He deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordan during the next eight years while being stationed in Germany, Fort Irwin, California, and Fort Carson, Colorado, before retiring here in Colorado Springs in 2016. Since then, he has been practicing Family Medicine and looks forward to continuing to serve the people of Colorado in both family practice and pain management with Summit Primary Care. Besides practicing medicine, he is a professional disc golfer (no, really—you can look it up!), hunter, and outdoors enthusiast.

Amazing doctor, very patient and offered great health advice. He is taking the time to do complete blood labs to make sure I am healthy all around instead of letting me go with no further work. Very enthusiastic made me feel extremely comfortable and showed care. His staff was equally nice and patient. Clean office and my wait time was literally less than 8 min. I would 100% recommend him. Thank you Dr.White.
