Getting to know Dr. Robert L. Henderson

Please be aware that I need to speak with you over the phone to confirm your appointment and discuss paperwork that must be completed before the appointment can take place. Until this paperwork is completed, the appointment will not be conducted and will need to be rescheduled for a different date and time. Thank you for your understanding. The decision to engage in psychotherapy is a very personal and courageous one. I believe it is important to receive psychotherapy from a licensed professional who can provide you with tools to heal both your body and mind. I will offer techniques to help you cope with the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that cause difficulties in your life. Whether you are depressed, anxious, or facing another mental health concern, I provide a holistic type of therapy designed to help you feel better and guide you through life’s challenges and transitions. I practice from an integrative approach using psychodynamic, humanistic/person-centered, and cognitive behavioral theories and techniques. I also incorporate interpersonal, emotion-focused, and DBT methods, including mindfulness meditation, to assist adolescents, adults, and families with distress tolerance and affect regulation. I understand that some experiences in your life may make it uncomfortable to discuss your difficulties. Therefore, I provide a safe space to explore anything troubling you without fear of judgment. Your comfort is of the utmost importance. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Pace University, which informs my comprehensive and compassionate approach to therapy.
