I am Dr. Robert Tang Bau, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in Florida and Connecticut with prescribing authority. I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
With over ten years of experience in the medical and nursing fields, my professional journey has been shaped by my service as a U.S. Air Force Veteran and my continued role as an Air Force Reservist. These experiences have strengthened my values of service, resilience, discipline, and responsibility toward those I care for.
I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama, where I received advanced training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment. I provide care for a wide range of mental health conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, personality disorders, sleep concerns, and other emotional or behavioral health needs.
My treatment philosophy is holistic, person-centered, and collaborative. I believe mental health care should look at the whole person, including emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and lifestyle factors. I value listening carefully to each patient’s story and helping them identify practical steps toward healing and stability. When medication is necessary, I use it thoughtfully and safely as part of an individualized treatment plan.
My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where patients feel heard, valued, and empowered. Mental health is more than my profession; it is my passion and calling. I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside my patients as they work toward healing, personal growth, improved functioning, and better quality of life.

New clients should know that I am not here to judge them. I am here to listen, understand their concerns, and support them with compassion and respect. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and judgment-free space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to share their story.
Together, we will work to identify their needs, develop a personalized treatment plan, and take meaningful steps toward healing, stability, and improved well-being.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My process is based on patient-centered care. I begin by listening carefully to your concerns, history, symptoms, and goals so I can understand what you are experiencing and what you want to improve. I believe each person’s situation is unique, so I take time to learn about your mental health, physical health, lifestyle, stressors, strengths, and support system.
After the initial assessment, we will review your diagnosis, discuss treatment options, and create a personalized plan together. Treatment may include medication management when clinically appropriate, education, coping strategies, lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing support. I believe in a holistic approach that looks at the whole person, not only the symptoms.
Throughout treatment, I will monitor your progress, answer your questions, adjust the plan when needed, and work with you toward stability, healing, and improved quality of life. My goal is to provide compassionate, respectful, and evidence-based care in a safe and judgment-free environment.
