Once you get to see Dr. Buchholz she's lovely to work with and very attentive to possible skin cancer situations needing further investigation. The problem is waiting sooo long; her appnts run so far behind. I had a 4:45 pm on Aug 13, but did not get taken into an exam room until 6:15 pm. A staffer did come out to apologize for the long wait, to me and the patient booked after me. The patient booked after me said every time she goes to this doc she waits forEVer. Last time for her, 2 hours before being seen. She asked the apologetic Mt Sinai staffer for the card of any other dermatologist in this practice who might tend to run closer to on time with all of her appointments and was given that information for future follow up. I was coming in for my annual full body skin cancer screening but due to lateness of my getting to see Dr. B, she only had time to examine and biopsy a suspect blot on my forehead and said I should book another appnt in Sept or Oct for the full body annual cancer screening, after we know if the biopsy she took yesterday reveals cancer to be dealt with. I really, really like her; have been w/her several years at the uptown office near St Lukes Hospital. But yesterday's wait time was hard.

Dr. Bucholz was wonderful as usual, and gave me exactly the information and guidance I needed. An hour was a long time to wait, however, with no sense during any of that time about how soon I would be seen.

For a few moments she was nice enough... BUT... Never in my life have i been treated so poorly by a physician. I went to her for a second opinion, help and answers to a problem I've been dealing with for a few years. I've changed my whole lifestyle in order to fix my skin. My personality is one that sets goals. I go full throttle to get to my goal. My goal is to get my skin back. I explained to her the great lengths i have gone to improve my skin and some of the coping that goes along with it. Her response - "you seem anxious" and " you need to speak to someone" maybe a "primary care physician". No lady, I'm here. I came to you for help, answers and possibilities. And Cetaphil was your answer? Been there, done that! And about every other over the counter facial wash, cream and not to mention 3 different prescription creams (she was made aware of moments before). One star is too many. Insulting to the core.

Seriously, I was bummed when my dermatologist left the field. Had one less than great appointment with someone whose cursory visit was not ok. But Dr. Buchholz was unbelievably thorough, treated her assistant with respect and kindness and made sure I understood everything she said and did. "A plus plus plus"
