About Dr. Barry Pomerantz
Dr. Barry Pomerantz is a dedicated and trusted dermatologist serving the community of New York, NY. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center.
Dr. Pomerantz runs his own practice, where he sees patients for dermatology consultations, skin cancer screening, acne, eczema, fungal infections, and warts. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the New York State Society of Dermatology. He also serves as an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he is actively involved in the teaching program.

Dr. Pomerantz was awesome. He listened closely to me when I told him about the concerns I had with my skin, he did a really thorough exam, and he gave me a lot of useful and important information on how to take better care of my skin. I appreciate his advice and will be following his suggestions. He's a great dermatologist, and I think his main priority is helping his patients have healthy skin. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and helpful as well.

I thought the appointment with Dr. Pomerantz was fine. I came with a particular problem. He understood me and dealt with my concern which will be followed up after some work is done. Since I hadn't been to see a dermatologist recently he suggested some further diagnostic work which I had already been thinking might be a good idea. I think he was very professional, competent, and knew what he was doing. It was easy to communicate with him. I definitely would recommend him.

Pros: Gave me Rx for which I asked. Decent 'guilty pleasure' magazines in waiting room, necessary as I waited.
Cons: Office was quite dirty, including potato chip crumbs in work area and clearly dirty medical instruments. (Not okay!)
No explanation/apology for wait. As a new patient I was finished with visit in fewer than 10 minutes, including some kibitzing about having been from same neighborhood in Brooklyn.
In a nutshell: if you know what you want and are not fussy, go. If you wonder about a potentially cancerous lesion or intend to get a full exam, keep looking.

Dr. Barry was extremely knowledgeable & patient with me. He answered as well as explained all questions and concerns. I was suffering from dry skin & acne marks. The medication he prescribed has worked wonders on my face. Usually, it takes about a month to see any changes in the skin. It hasn't been a full week yet & I've already gotten a compliment under his tutelage.
