As a result, I am honored and proud to offer my expertise with the latest technologies to my patients including robotic surgery and flexible endoscopic surgery/interventional endoscopy. Rodolfo J. Oviedo is board-certified and fellowship-trained in metabolic and bariatric surgery, robotic advanced gastrointestinal and general surgery, and flexible endoscopic surgery. His clinical expertise includes robotic primary and revisional metabolic and bariatric surgery, robotic general surgery, robotic complex abdominal wall reconstruction, robotic anti-reflux/foregut surgery, flexible endoscopic surgery, and interventional bariatric endoscopy. Dr. Oviedo graduated with his medical degree in 2007 from The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he then went on to complete a general surgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital. After graduating from residency in 2013, Dr. Oviedo moved to Tallahassee, Florida, and joined Florida State University College of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery. During this time, he worked as a minimally invasive general and bariatric surgeon and developed his skills as a robotic surgeon. Dr. Oviedo then decided to pursue an advanced fellowship in minimally invasive gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery at Baptist Hospital of Miami. After completing his advanced fellowship in 2018, he served as a metabolic and bariatric surgeon in Winchester, Virginia, where he built a successful robotic bariatric and complex abdominal wall reconstruction program.
