I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist currently practicing in Manhattan, New York. I am Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and licensed to practice in the State of New York. I provide empathic and evidence based care using medications and psychotherapy to treat a wide variety of conditions such as ADHD, Anxiety, Mood and Eating Disorders. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development from Cornell University. I earned my M.D. from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, and completed a residency in Adult Psychiatry at the Beth Israel Medical Center, the University Hospital and Manhattan campus for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I then further specialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry completing a child psychiatry residency at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. Drawing from my personal experience in competitive sports from a young age as well as my experience at the Eating Disorders Center at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health Center, I have developed a particular interest in working with adolescent and adult athletes with performance anxiety in competition as well as eating disorders.

Dr. Pasternak is easy to talk to, had a really bright and comfortable office. He is unlike any other psychiatrist I have ever seen. You can tell he actually listens and cares about my situation. I have already referred my friends and family to him!
This doesn't feel like a personal visit, but it serves a purpose. if you ONLY want your script, and no genuine therapy, he's your guy. Answered phone calls on his cell phone during the session on multiple occasions... Overall, just bad bedside manner. Don't waste your time. please.
I was originally apprehensive about seeing a male doctor for my mental health needs. I have previously always had women doctors who have treated me for my mental health conditions. However, discovering Dr. Pasternak has been a god-send and I am so happy I went out of my initial comfort zone. Dr. Pasternak truly cares about his patients. His bedside manner is impeccable, and he is SO EASY to get in touch with for appointments or even if you are just having a difficult day because of your condition(s). He is a physician who does not rush you, which can be rare to find. I highly recommend Dr. Pasternak.

I felt that he was really listening to me. He noticed some patterns of symptoms that other doctors have ignored for years. Very responsive while scheduling the appointment, too. I’m hopeful that I’ve finally found the level of care that I’ve been seeking.
Have been seeing Dr. Pasternak for over a year now. He is very thoughtful and has a calming presence. Great listener and has a lot of helpful ideas. Highly recommended.
Dr Pasternak is very professional yet approachable, easy to confide in, and a doctor I would highly recommend to any of my friends.
In all my years of seeing doctor after doctor, I finally feel like I'm getting the right help I need. Dr. Pasternak is amazing.
