Just had my first visit with Dr. Rohini and all the reviews were right, she is incredible! She is kind, friendly, and knew right away what my condition was. She was thorough in treating it and explaining it to me, and I felt very comfortable with her. Everyone who works there is super nice and the process was so swift. The office was also very clean and modern. I wish all doctor experiences in New York were like this.

Rohini Shantharam, MD is a board certified dermatologist who practices medical, procedural, and cosmetic dermatology with an interest in the treatment of darker skin tones. Dr. Shantharam completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Student of the Year with a major in economics and minor in chemistry. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia and completed an internal medicine internship at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Shantharam trained in dermatology at Northshore/LIJ medical center on Long Island where she served as chief resident of her training program and founder of the cosmetic clinic.
Dr. Shantharam has earned scholarships through the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and American Academy of Dermatology to work and train with experts in the field of cosmetic dermatology and skin of color. She has been published in peer-reviewed journals and is currently authoring a textbook chapter on vasculitis. She has given lectures in dermatology, including at national meetings. Dr. Shantharam has a passion for teaching and serves as volunteer faculty for the Hofstra Northwell Department of Dermatology where she trains students and residents in dermatology.
When she is away from caring for patients, Dr. Shantharam enjoys the perks of both coasts as she was born in Queens but raised in California. Her hobbies include travel, running/exercising, and exploring NYC food, art, and culture

Honestly, it was too fast. She saw me for barely three minutes and was able to give a diagnosis just based on what she saw with a "95%" certainty. I am not sure why she is so fast with appointments, but I will not be going back. I prefer a doctor who takes his/her time. Also, I had issues getting my refill with the e-prescription system that she uses. I had my appointment on Wednesday but didn't actually get my prescription until the following Monday due to some error. The doctor's office never got a confirmation email from the pharmacy and declined to follow up with them or let me know of the issue.

The waiting room was modern and professional. There were a myriad of magazines to read plus little bottles of water to drink while waiting. Although I didn't read anything because I was quickly seen when I signed in.
The support staff was pleasant and made sure my needs were met. The medical assistant offered me bottled water and asked if I wanted to use the restroom before beginning the consultation.
Dr. Shantharam was very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease about my concerns. After answering family history questions and a routine checkup, she prescribed me an ointment and some skin care medications for acne and bumps under my beard. She also gave me general skin care advice.
All in all, I would definitely come here again and would recommend others to visit Dr. Shantharam.

Great appointment with Dr. Shantharam. I went for an annual skin screening and was seen right away. I was there with no specific concerns and it was a routine visit, but she took to the time to discuss my health and was in no rush to get to her next patient. The font office staff was very kind, I waited for maybe 5 minutes before I was taken to the back. Ms. Shantharam was very engaging and answered all of my questions and made sure that I was sastified with the visit. I would highly recommend her. (I will also note that the whole office looks amazing, so clean and inviting)

I was very happy with this doctor's office overall. everyone was friendly and knowledgable. The doctor was clearly knowledgable and got me all of the referrals I needed, but her explanations seemed clinical and complicated to me. I probably should have asked more questions.

I felt completely at ease with the doctor, even when talking about the weirder aspects of why I was there. She was very thorough and caught things on my skin I hadn’t noticed! She was honest that she wasnt 100% sure what was wrong with me, but outlined a plan for that visit and the future based on test results, and gave me her ideas of what she thought could be the problem. I appreciated her honesty and ability to make me feel totally comfortable. Also, the facility itself is really nice!

Not only was she excellent, but her staff in the office were as well. I had to bring my four year old son with me so one of the nurses played with him in another room while I had my biopsy done. They were also very accommodating about my prescription when my pharmacy gave them a hard time. Totally recommend her!
