About Ruby Parkzes
Originally from Northern Virginia, Dr. Ruby Parkzes is an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) with a passion for Geriatrics and Obesity; which arose from her first exposure to Nursing through volunteering at her mother’s nursing home at age 14. While a Senior in High School, she completed the Certified Nursing Assistant Training (CNA) and worked as a Restorative Aide at a Long-term Care Nursing Center. It was during this time that she decided to commit in serving and making a difference in the lives of others. She would later pursue a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). While continuing to further her education, she attended and graduated from Prince George’s Community College as a Registered Nurse (RN). Ruby continued to pursue her interest in nursing further, graduating with honors, from Walden University with a Master’s of Science in Adult Gerontology Primary Care and is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has various experiences which include (Hospice, Mental Health, Med-Surg, Medical Step Down Unit, Qualified Mental Health Professional, Acute Care) inpatient, and outpatient. Ruby is an active member of several professional organizations including the American College of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, and is President of The Black Nurse Practitioners Network (DMV Chapter). She also provides preceptorship to upcoming Nurse Practitioners, as she loves to teach and strives to make a significant difference in health care by providing quality evidence-based training to upcoming advanced practice providers. In her spare time, Ruby is engaged in promoting Women’s Empowerment, active in her church, engages in charity projects, enjoys traveling, and learns new crafts
