Dr. Hassamal is a quadruple board certified, fellowship trained psychiatrist with subspecialty training in addiction psychiatry, addiction medicine, and brain injury medicine. He pursued his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University and subspecialty training at UCLA and Cedars Sinai Medical Center. During his tenure, Dr. Hassamal has pursued several research initiatives both as a Principal Research Investigator and Medical Advisor. In addition to being a prolific author, Dr. Hassamal has held key leadership positions in several healthcare start-ups and has a faculty appointment at the California University of Sciences and Medicine. Dr. Hassamal's vision as the founder and CEO of The California Neuropsychiatric Institute centers on delivering the most advanced and innovative treatments to patients.

My last experience with a psychiatrist, I walked away feeling so unseen and unheard. He minimized my concerns. This Doctor was a great communicator and took his time to explain everything, including the biology behind the diagnosis and how the medications worked. He discussed some very progressive treatment therapies rather than suggesting the cookie-cutter counseling that I’ve done for years with poor results. I feel hopeful for the first time in many years. I have worked in healthcare for 20 years and it’s become rare for providers to communicate effectively and not rush their patients. I look forward to my healing journey.

This doctor and his office are very disrespectful to patients and their time. 8 minutes prior to my appointment they sent me a text saying the appointment would be canceled. They offered to reschedule it to 4 days later at 8 am when I am at work. I wasted a lot of time filling out their forms and waiting for this appointment. In addition I took time off of work for this appointment.
