Getting to know Saundra Hyman
I had the opportunity to work in a community Behavioral Health Center and saw a great need for mental health services in the community. This fueled my desire to work with this population. In my role as a PMHNP, I work with the patient, for the patient, to help guide them to be the very best of themselves. I use both medication management and brief psychotherapy to help patients reach their desired goals. I have experience in treating a range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. I have special interests in working with youth and young adults, minority mental health, and individuals experiencing undiagnosed mental illnesses. From the first visit, my goal is to develop a collaborative relationship where the individual can explore all aspects of themselves in a meaningful way and without judgment. If medications are indicated, I promote collaboration with the patient in developing a treatment plan suited to their individual needs. I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. I obtained my Master's in Nursing from La Salle University, completed my Post-Master's Certificate in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Temple University.
