Dr. Seemal Desai is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, and a Board Certified Dermatologist. He graduated with honors from Emory University. He received his medical training at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and received his Doctor of Medicine degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2005. Following medical school, Dr. Desai completed his medical internship in Internal Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2009, and served as Chief Resident for the Department of Dermatology from 2008-2009. Dr. Desai has been active on a local, state, and national level with numerous medical organizations. His major accomplishments have been with the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Medical Association, where he has held more than six elected positions. He is also actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Desai is the author of numerous publications and has been invited to present at numerous international Dermatology events. These include the World Congress of Dermatology, the French Society of Dermatology, and most recently the International Congress of Dermatology. His clinical interests include the treatment of vitiligo, and other disorders of pigmentation, psoriasis, acne, skin cancers, inflammatory skin rashes and phototherapy. Dr. Desai is very active in the local and national dermatologic community and is the current President of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Dermatological Society. In his freetime, Dr. Desai enjoys spending time with his wife and family, as well as traveling, trying new restaurants, meeting new people, playing trivia games, exercising and enjoying the outdoors. Dr. Desai takes great pride in providing his patients with the highest level of dermatologic care.

After initially having issues with getting the appointment on ZocDoc, my wife both arrived at our appointement ontime to find out the doctors office didn't have us scheduled for an appointment today but instead a week from today. Fortunately we had the email confirmations from ZocDoc and they made room for us in today's schedule, but it was still frustrating. NOt clear if this was a problem on the ZocDoc side or the doctor's side...

The doctor is obviously very professional and knowledgeable, and the appointment went quickly. However, I felt rushed as he didn't spend much time with me nor asked any questions. In addition, there was a third person in the room, other than the dr. and a nurse (intern/resident/employee trainee?), and the dr. did not ask my permission to have this person observe the exam (given that i was nearly naked, I felt uncomfortable).

He asked where we were concerned about our son's skin, and only checked that area. I assumed since this was a new patient seeing a dermatologist for the first time, that he would have conducted a more comprehensive examination for any concerning areas (especially since our son is a teenager and there are body parts we no longer see and our family has a history of multiple cancers).

My visit was very good. I have been searching for a good dermatologist for my daughter who has eczema. Dr. Desai was thorough and explained everything where we could understand. I have been really worried about her skin but after visiting Dr. Desai I am no longer worried and at my mind is at ease. He was very patient and answered all of our questions. And we had a lot! I would highly recommend Dr. Desai.
