Dr. Shanna Rompel grew up in northern California and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis. She received her medical degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and moved to Denver in 2008 for her residency in OB/GYN at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Shanna has been on numerous international medical trips to India and South America performing GYN surgery. She enjoys hiking 14ers, running, yoga, soccer, cooking, and spending time with her dog.

My visit was so traumatic I haven’t been back to see an Obgyn since. I found her to be rude/dismissive. The worst part of the entire experience was the actual pelvic exam. She was so rough that I bled.

We’ve seen Dr. Rompel 3 times now for prenatal care and have been so unhappy with every visit that we are switching OB providers mid-pregnancy. If you want a doctor who will make you wait an hour to spend only a couple minutes with you, not listen to your concerns or show any empathy, then she is the doctor for you!

I was in there with the doctor for maybe 5 mins total. No warning for insertion and she was pretty rough while in there. I presented three issues I wanted to talk about and she barely gave any of them the time of day. Not the type of treatment I’m used to... felt like I was being kicked out the door. Not sure I’ll come back.

This is partly my fault as I didn't realize this was a catholic hospital - but i was informed by the nurse that they don't do copper IUDs.
I was a little surprised and probably not my best self when I saw Dr. Rompel. Despite that she was gracious, spent time looking up and going through options with me and even though i was just about ready to look for another practice, I decided to continue visiting her because I really liked her professionalism and knowledge.

Received bad news during first prenatal appointment, felt a little rushed and didn't get much information about what to expect for next steps. If I hadn't done research at home there were a few things I may have done following my procedure by mistake because I didn't get clear instructions. Dr. Rompel was totally nice but definitely felt very busy and needing to get on to the next patient. I'm hoping to get better information regarding my future abilities to conceive when I have my follow-up appointment with the nurse practitioner.

Dr. Rompel is the first OB/GYN I've seen in Denver and after today I don't think I'll need to look any further. She was friendly and professional, and listened to me when I talked. Would highly recommend her.
