Dr. Asher strives to create an active, collaborative, and respectful space where each person’s perspective can be heard. She tailors Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Process-oriented techniques to each person’s personality, strengths, and specific struggles. Through careful understanding and discussing opportunities for growth and change, Dr. Asher believes that optimism, hope, and personal growth can be cultivated in any situation.
Prior to her work with the Williamsburg Therapy Group, Dr. Asher worked with chidren, adolescents, and families in acute psychiatric care, as well as with adults across the age range in medical settings. She has worked with a wide variety of struggles, including intense emotions and behaviors, relationship struggles, trauma, cultural and identity issues, substance use, and end of life issues. Her research has included the interplay of anger, anxiety, and depression, as well as empowering communities by providing useful skills, including Mindfulness and communication strategies in families with substance use.
