Psychotherapist
230 West 13th Street, New York, NY
I am a therapist with a private practice in the West Village of Manhattan. I work with both individuals and couples who wish to take a meaningful look inside themselves to help get past both the conscious and unconscious barriers that are keeping them from fully living their lives in the way they long for. If you are living in New York City, I can see you in person, but can also work with you virtually if needed. If you reside in MA or other areas of New York State, I can see you virtually.

Getting to know Michael Burke

I am a therapist with a private practice in the West Village of Manhattan. I work with both individuals and couples who wish to take a meaningful look inside themselves to help get past both the conscious and unconscious barriers that are keeping them from fully living their lives in the way they long for. If you are living in New York City, I can see you in person, but can also work with you virtually if needed. If you reside in MA or other areas of New York State, I can see you virtually.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a nurturing environment based on understanding and empathy. I'm also a creative person by nature and it's what makes my therapy unique. Each person comes to therapy with their own individual needs, and I feel part of what makes therapy successful is having a therapist who can creatively adapt their skills to meet those needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A compassionate, non-judgmental and caring approach are the key elements to my work. I can help you learn more about your own emotional world in a way that offers new understanding, increased self-awareness and self-compassion. This leads to relief from feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear, shame, loneliness, despair, panic, stress and other painful emotional states which opens the door to a more peaceful, meaningful life.

More information on payments and coverage

If you have out-of-network benefits, you are most likely to be reimburse for a portion of my fee after the deductible (typically anywhere between 40% to 60%). If you're not sure if you have out-of-network benefits, you can call number on the back of your insurance card to find out. You'll want to ask what your deductible is (the amount you have to spend before your out-of-network benefits kick in), and how much money you will get back for each session after that. The way the payment process works is that you pay the fee directly to me, and I provide you with a special receipt called a "superbill" that has all the necessary information needed to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Superbills also count towards paying down your deductible.
