About Dr. Sherard Chiu

Dr. Chiu is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After this, he completed his General Surgery residency at Atlanta Medical Center and then went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Chiu is double boarded by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He has received the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Fellow Certification, along with the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons Fellowship Certification. He is also certified with the daVinci System for robotic surgery. Dr. Chiu has dedicated himself to helping individuals overcome their struggles with obesity. He understands the hardships associated with the disease and seeks to improve the lives of each patient. Dr. Chiu is proud to be part of New York Bariatric Group and will bring his expertise to expand the bariatric surgery services in the state of Connecticut. His goal is to improve the quality and longevity of life for obese patients utilizing surgical and non-surgical options.

I had a good discussion with my Surgeon regarding his recommendation for surgery. He was very knowledgeable. He answered all questions I had. I felt very comfortable about going forward with the process.
Everyone at the office is very friendly and respectful, especially Dr. Chiu. This is a place to go if you want to lose weight. TRY IT!
I had an angelic experience at Fairfield location. The ladies at the front desk was amazing. Dr. Chiu was warm & inviting. He was a pleasure to speak with. He was very insightful & made me feel completely at ease. I would recommend this place.
Having the gastric sleeve was the best decision I made. I lost over 80 pounds and I feel great. Also Dr. Chiu and his staff are amazing. Very caring and concern about how I'm doing and have been there since my surgery and it's going on 1 year already. Highly recommend to anyone suffering to lose weight.

Dr Chiu is so nice! He does not make you feel judged for the reason you are there which is what I was worried about. He was not this way atall. He was so nice and comfortable to talk to. He wants to get you get healthy. He even took the time to come up with an alternative option because I was having issues with my insurance - he seems to genuinely care about his patients.
