Getting to know Sherri Crespin

Hello! My practice specializes in medication management and comprehensive psychiatric assessment for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, and substance use challenges. I believe in collaborative care that addresses not just symptoms, but the whole person-recognizing how these conditions affect daily life, work performance, and relationships. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can openly discuss your experiences and concerns. My approach combines evidence-based treatments with compassionate understanding to help restore balance and improve your quality of life. For those struggling with depression, I offer specialized medication strategies alongside supportive care to help lift the burden of persistent low mood, fatigue, and loss of interest. In addressing substance use issues, I provide integrated treatment that recognizes the complex interplay between substance use and other psychiatric conditions. I hold a Master's in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin, which informs my holistic and patient-centered approach to care. Whether you're seeking answers to long-standing symptoms, struggling with recent changes in your mental health, feeling overwhelmed by depression, working toward recovery from substance use, or looking to optimize your current treatment plan, my goal is to work alongside you to develop a personalized treatment approach that respects your individual needs, preferences, and recovery goals while providing effective medication management to address your symptoms.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Beginning your mental health journey takes real courage, and I'm honored to be part of it. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in medication management, I bring a patient-centered approach that honors your individuality, values your voice, and prioritizes your overall wellbeing. My practice is built on the belief that effective psychiatric care grows from genuine partnership. You hold the deepest understanding of your own experience, while I offer expertise in psychopharmacology — together, we make a strong team. During our sessions, I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions to understand your full picture, and develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values. I thoughtfully review your complete medical history, current medications, lifestyle, and personal preferences before making any recommendations. I present options openly, discuss potential benefits and risks with honesty, and empower you to make informed decisions about your care. I also believe in intentional prescribing when appropriate, monitoring your response closely and adjusting treatment based on your feedback. You will never feel like a passive participant — your perspective is an essential part of every decision we make together. Beyond prescribing, I'm deeply committed to education and empowerment. I want you to understand your diagnosis, know how your medications work, and feel confident taking an active role in your mental health. My goal extends beyond managing symptoms — I'm here to help you build a sustainable path toward wellness through ongoing support, regular check-ins, and a genuine investment in your progress. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds and foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected. Whether you're seeking help for the first time or transitioning from another provider, I'm dedicated to making this experience truly meaningful for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins by creating a welcoming, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable being open. Your first evaluation typically runs 60 to 90 minutes — rushing through this foundational stage serves no one well. We'll discuss your presenting symptoms, previous mental health treatment, physical health, current medications, family psychiatric background, and life circumstances. My questions go deep not to be intrusive, but because a thorough understanding of your situation is what makes truly effective care possible. Together, we'll identify your primary challenges and set realistic goals. Maybe you're hoping to ease anxiety, sleep more soundly, or recover a sense of energy and motivation. Whatever you're working toward, those objectives shape our treatment direction. I'll share my clinical impressions and explore whether medication may be helpful, alongside other approaches such as counseling, lifestyle changes, or community support. I also make a point of learning what hasn't worked for you in the past — so that what we build together feels meaningfully different. I explain how each medication works, what timeline to expect for seeing results, and which side effects to watch for. We start with the most evidence-supported options that fit your situation and preferences. I follow a start-low, go-slow approach when appropriate, and a more targeted strategy when the clinical picture calls for it — sound reasoning guides every decision we make. Follow-up visits allow us to track your progress and address any difficulties that come up. Medications often require dose adjustments over time, and your direct feedback is what drives those decisions. We acknowledge the progress you make and work through the harder stretches together. Between appointments, I remain accessible for urgent concerns, and I encourage you to reach out rather than struggle in silence. Psychiatric care is built on trust, and I nurture that trust through consistency, dependability, and genuine care

I am very happy with her recommendations, kindness, understanding and quick appointment.
Sherri was very attentive and caring. I felt I got the care that I was looking for.
She really listens to me and has good recommendations.
I anticipated having a therapy session. However, after beginning our session I was informed that she only does medication management. Just a heads up for future patient inquiries. She seemed like she'd be good in her role-- just didnt match my expectations. Would likely, recommend for someone needing medication management.

From the beginning Sherri made me fill very comfortable. She listen to what I had to say and from there we talked about my medications .She didn’t change anything traumatically like other had we just started out simple and just rearranged them . I really appreciate her gentle approach on things. I’m starting to fill better than I have in awhile and I’m not so tired as I was before . Now I’m working on getting out to do fun activities instead of staying home all day . I’m very grateful Sherri I feel like there’s a light at the end of a very long tunnel . Thank You??
