Getting to know Sherri Crespin

Hello! My practice specializes in medication management and comprehensive psychiatric assessment for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, and substance use challenges. I believe in collaborative care that addresses not just symptoms, but the whole person-recognizing how these conditions affect daily life, work performance, and relationships. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can openly discuss your experiences and concerns. My approach combines evidence-based treatments with compassionate understanding to help restore balance and improve your quality of life. For those struggling with depression, I offer specialized medication strategies alongside supportive care to help lift the burden of persistent low mood, fatigue, and loss of interest. In addressing substance use issues, I provide integrated treatment that recognizes the complex interplay between substance use and other psychiatric conditions. I hold a Master's in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin, which informs my holistic and patient-centered approach to care. Whether you're seeking answers to long-standing symptoms, struggling with recent changes in your mental health, feeling overwhelmed by depression, working toward recovery from substance use, or looking to optimize your current treatment plan, my goal is to work alongside you to develop a personalized treatment approach that respects your individual needs, preferences, and recovery goals while providing effective medication management to address your symptoms.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide thoughtful, evidence-based medication management in a warm and genuinely supportive environment. My style is collaborative at its core — I contribute clinical knowledge of psychiatric medications, and you contribute the irreplaceable insight of your own lived experience. Effective treatment emerges when both perspectives work together. Your first appointment begins with a thorough psychiatric evaluation. We will review your current symptoms, mental health and medical background, family psychiatric history, and your personal goals for treatment. Reaching an accurate diagnosis and truly understanding your circumstances is not a formality — it is what makes medication management meaningful and precise. From there, I walk you through your treatment options with full transparency, explaining how each medication works, what the evidence supports, realistic timelines for improvement, and any side effects worth monitoring. When it comes to prescribing, I favor medications with strong evidence for your specific condition. I start at appropriate doses and monitor your response carefully, paying close attention to drug interactions, individual risk factors, and anything unique to your profile. I also use standardized assessment tools to track your symptoms objectively over time, so we can clearly see whether our direction is working — and adjust promptly if it is not. Medication costs, insurance coverage, and finding solutions that are genuinely workable for your life factor into every treatment discussion. A treatment plan that does not fit your reality will not serve you well, and I take that seriously. Whether you are approaching psychiatric medication for the first time or looking to improve an existing regimen, I welcome the opportunity to support you. My commitment is skilled, compassionate care that respects your autonomy and is guided by clinical expertise every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe healing begins with feeling heard and understood. Our initial appointment, usually 60 minutes, is designed to give you space to share your story without feeling rushed. I'll ask about your current symptoms, when they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they're affecting your relationships, work, and daily activities. We'll review your complete psychiatric and medical history, medications, allergies, and family background. I use a biopsychosocial approach, meaning I consider biological, psychological, and social factors contributing to your mental health. This comprehensive view helps me develop more effective, personalized treatment recommendations. If medication seems appropriate, I'll explain why specific options might help your particular symptoms and discuss realistic expectations for improvement. Follow-up medication management visits typically last 20-30 minutes and occur monthly or more frequently if needed during adjustments. Each session includes a symptom check-in, side effect screening, and medication review. I track your progress using both your subjective experience and objective measures. If something isn't working, we problem-solve together. I encourage active participation in your treatment. Ask questions, voice concerns, share what's working and what's not. I'm straightforward about what medications can and can't do, and I'll never pressure you into treatment you're uncomfortable with. Between appointments, my team and I are available for urgent concerns. I also provide clear instructions about when to seek emergency care. My commitment is to offer compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care that respects your autonomy while supporting your journey toward wellness. You deserve a provider who sees you as a person, not just a diagnosis. Together, we'll work toward helping you reclaim your life and rediscover hope for a brighter future. Taking this first step is already an act of courage.

I anticipated having a therapy session. However, after beginning our session I was informed that she only does medication management. Just a heads up for future patient inquiries. She seemed like she'd be good in her role-- just didnt match my expectations. Would likely, recommend for someone needing medication management.
