Getting to know Sherri Crespin

Hello! My practice specializes in medication management and comprehensive psychiatric assessment for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, and substance use challenges. I believe in collaborative care that addresses not just symptoms, but the whole person-recognizing how these conditions affect daily life, work performance, and relationships. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can openly discuss your experiences and concerns. My approach combines evidence-based treatments with compassionate understanding to help restore balance and improve your quality of life. For those struggling with depression, I offer specialized medication strategies alongside supportive care to help lift the burden of persistent low mood, fatigue, and loss of interest. In addressing substance use issues, I provide integrated treatment that recognizes the complex interplay between substance use and other psychiatric conditions. I hold a Master's in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin, which informs my holistic and patient-centered approach to care. Whether you're seeking answers to long-standing symptoms, struggling with recent changes in your mental health, feeling overwhelmed by depression, working toward recovery from substance use, or looking to optimize your current treatment plan, my goal is to work alongside you to develop a personalized treatment approach that respects your individual needs, preferences, and recovery goals while providing effective medication management to address your symptoms.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not accept EAP programs. Taking the first step in your mental health journey is an act of courage, and it means a lot to support you. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focused on medication management, I offer patient-centered care that celebrates who you are as an individual, values your voice and point of view, and keeps your overall well-being as my highest priority. My practice rests on one guiding principle: the best psychiatric care comes from a real partnership between patient and provider. No one knows your experiences better than you do, and I bring specialized knowledge in psychopharmacology. By working together, we become a strong, capable team dedicated to the wellness goals you care about most. During our visits, I listen with care and attention, ask meaningful questions to understand the complete picture, and build a thorough treatment plan that genuinely aligns with your goals, values, and preferences. Before I make any clinical recommendations, I'll review your full medical history, current medications and supplements, lifestyle factors, and everyday routines. I present treatment options with openness and transparency, discuss possible benefits and risks candidly without dismissing your concerns, and support you in making well-informed, confident choices about your care. I believe in purposeful, deliberate prescribing, careful monitoring of your response, and adjusting your treatment based on your honest, direct feedback. Beyond prescribing, I'm deeply committed to education and empowerment. I want you to fully understand your diagnosis, learn how your medications affect your body and brain, and feel confident playing an active part in managing your mental health. I welcome people of every background, identity, and life experience, and I cultivate an inclusive, respectful space where each person feels safe, seen, and valued. Together, we'll pursue healing that is meaningful and built to last.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. My goal is to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly and honestly. Your initial evaluation lasts 60 to 90 minutes, because building a strong foundation takes time. During this visit, we'll discuss the symptoms that brought you in, your mental and physical health history, any current medications, your family's psychiatric history, and what's happening in your life right now. From there, we'll identify the main concerns and work together to set achievable goals. Whether you want to feel calmer, sleep better, or regain your energy and motivation, those goals will guide our next steps. I'll share my clinical impressions, and we'll discuss whether medication makes sense, along with other options such as therapy, lifestyle changes, or community resources. I also want to know what hasn't worked for you before, so your plan feels fresh rather than a repeat of past attempts. I believe education is an essential part of care. I'll explain how a medication works, when you might expect to notice changes, and which side effects to watch for. In some cases, a gradual, low-dose approach is best; in others, a more direct plan is appropriate. Every decision is based on sound clinical reasoning, and I want you to feel confident and informed every step of the way. Follow-up visits usually last 20 to 30 minutes. This gives us time to review your progress, work through any concerns, and make adjustments, with your feedback guiding those decisions. We'll celebrate your successes and navigate the harder moments together. Between appointments, I'm available for urgent concerns, and I would much rather hear from you than have you struggle alone. Trust is at the heart of psychiatric care, and I earn it by being consistent, dependable, and genuinely invested in your wellbeing. That commitment continues between visits and supports everything we do together.

I am very happy with her recommendations, kindness, understanding and quick appointment.
Sherri was very attentive and caring. I felt I got the care that I was looking for.
She really listens to me and has good recommendations.
I anticipated having a therapy session. However, after beginning our session I was informed that she only does medication management. Just a heads up for future patient inquiries. She seemed like she'd be good in her role-- just didnt match my expectations. Would likely, recommend for someone needing medication management.
