Dr. Sonali Sharma is a Cornell-trained Clinical Adult Psychiatrist in private practice for over 15 years who is committed to providing compassionate solutions to complex mental health issues. Treatment is highly customized based on individual needs.
Dr. Sharma provides consultations, crisis management, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, treatment for mood and anxiety disorders, mental health symptomd related to women's health across the life span including pregnancy, post-partum and during perimenopause and the menopausal transition, and assistance with stress management and general wellness issues.
Dr. Sharma sees patients from all walks of life in her practice - from all cultures, backgrounds and professions. From the student to humanitarian worker to pop culture icon or C-suite level executive, Dr. Sharma is approachable, pragmatic and versatile in getting you where you need to be.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Sharma has worked in Emergency Psychiatry at Columbia University, as a Clinical Psychiatrist for the homeless population, in Global Mental Health integrating mental health into primary care, as a World Health Organization consultant, in primary care treating depression and anxiety, and has held multiple leadership positions in Public Psychiatry throughout New York City. Dr. Sharma is currently Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at Being Health, and an advisor to Kenneth Cole's Mental Health Coalition and Evernow, a digital menopause care company.
She completed her training in Psychiatry at UCSF (internship) and Payne Whitney Clinic (residency) at Weill Cornell / NYPH. She holds a Medical Degree from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University.
Her interests include Clinical Psychiatry, Global Mental Health & Public Psychiatry and is committed to Mental Health Advocacy and Decreasing Stigma.

After a few rough experiences I felt that Dr. Sharma really listened to me and wasn’t judgmental. She was gentle yet constructive in a helpful way.

Dr. Sharma was very professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. Her offices are clean, accessible and appropriate for the nature of her practice. I was seen at the scheduled appointment time, payment was reasonable and invoices were immediately provided/re-accessible via the internet.

Dr.Sharma has helped me change my life for the better. I’ve been to many psychiatrists and no one has ever spent the time and care with me as she has. She really worked with me on getting the right medications and quickly knew when something wasn’t right for me. She’s not the type of doctor that you walk in and out of in 5 minutes. She sits with you and really listens and takes in how you feel and how you feel on the medications.

Truly unprofessional. I was charged a full cancellation fee for not cancelling 48 hours in advance. I cancelled 47 hours in advance. This is after being displaced from my home and being told she was flexible if my working schedule changed. This while the med she's prescribed is having terrible side effects. Certainly won't be returning.
