What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach is to ensure I perform a thorough assessment to fully understand each client’s issue. I then utilize a holistic centered approach to ensure that each treatment plan directly targets the unique needs of the client. Not only do I manage symptoms, I also ensure I support clients by providing long term strategies for maintaining mental health, as well as preventing relapse. I believe that a client-centered therapeutic relationship, based on mutual trust and respect will positively impact the client’s outcomes.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
First and foremost, my clients will walk away from the first session knowing that they have a safe and non-judgmental space to discuss their issues. They will feel heard, understood, and optimistic about my approach toward their care. As part of the first session, clients should expect to have an assessment, diagnosis, and discuss treatment options. Clients will also receive tools and strategies to help them succeed at their goals. Most of all, clients will feel supported in a confidential and non-judgmental space.

I did not respond well to her approach at all unfortunately. While her approach was very straightforward, I personally need a more understanding/emotional/sympathetic approach so that I feel truly cared for and I just did not feel like I got that. I had a panic attack during our session and tried to explain that just being repeatedly told to “just breathe” doesn’t work for me and i did not feel listened to or taken seriously. I’m sure she was trying her best and the hour time limit doesn’t help but yeah just another disappointing experience with traditional healthcare so back to square one I guess. I’m sure other people would have success with her

I saw Dr. Mbua after I had an episode, and someone recommended her. I was not sure and have a hard time talking about my experience to anyone but she is different. I saw her in person, and she was pleasant and greeted me with great energy. She listened to me attentively, asked me relevant questions and gave me time to put my thoughts together. She didnt rush through the visit or downplay my experience. I highly recommend her and thanks to my friend who told me about her.
