About Dr. Stephen Courtney
An orthopedic surgeon and spine specialist, Dr. Stephen Courtney is a part of Advanced Spine Center. He works towards building a better healthcare environment in Plano, TX. His exceptional work ethic will always ensure that patients leave the office satisfied with thorough care. Patients see him for a variety of reasons such as hip bursitis, back problems, spondylolysis, spinal infusions, and spine pain.
Dr. Courtney earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University. He subsequently completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Texas A&M University. He further pursued a fellowship in spine under Dr. Chester Sutterlin III and Dr. Gary Lowery. Dr. Courtney is also certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Spine Surgery, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has authored numerous journal publications in his field of specialty and has given many presentations at professional society meetings. He was recently honored by D Magazine as one of the “Best Doctors in Dallas” and by Texas Monthly Magazine as a “Texas Super Doctor.” He has also received the Howmedica Biomechanic Award and the Louisiana Orthopedic Association Award. He was placed fourth in the World Congress for student research competition.
Dr. Courtney explores many options and customizes all treatment methods for each patient. He takes time out to listen to each patient's health concerns and works on the treatment accordingly. He ensures it suits their recovery and lifestyle.

Dr Courtney is not the doctor you should go to if you want your issues resolved. My appointment lasted 10 minutes and he did less probing than my chiropractor did. Paperwork was super long and staff is not really nice, you can tell they like more volume than quality of work.
Dr Courtney may be brilliant (which i dont know) but he sure is arrogant. Most poster/magazine/handout has his face or name.

I have never experienced such unprofessionalism and inappropriateness in a workplace setting as I did during my visit with Dr. Courtney. He made inappropriate comments about my weight, appeared disinterested in anything I had to say, used unprofessional language, and made the overall experience highly uncomfortable. I was appalled that I drove 35 minutes and paid for a service only to be treated this way. While he may be knowledgeable, I would rather seek care from a doctor who values professionalism and respect over arrogance and rudeness. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this practice to anyone.

Dr. Courtney was knowledgeable, but I felt he was ignoring me when I was discussing my symptoms. He changed the subject several times while I was trying to explain my pain precisely. I do not think I would recommend him to others.

It was a pleasure meeting Dr. Courtney today. He was very nice, as was his staff. He showed me why my back hurts on the x-rays and with his model of a spine. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. He prescribed a steroid to help with the inflammation and the pain. He said to call if I had any other issues. I would definitely recommend him.

Because of the specificity of the spine, he couldn't really help me, and X-rays showed me how serious it was.
I was in pain, but I wasn't in a serious condition, so I ordered good exercise. It was all about showing helpful shoes and workout reccomendation.

Took my son for neck issues. They did X-rays & that was it. Doctor did not even look at my son’s neck or back. No mobility tests were done. Prescribed steroids and that was it. I could’ve went to our PCP for that. Waste of time.

Dr. Courtney was highly recommended by one of my friends/colleagues… I had been hearing about how wonderful of a provider Dr. Courtney was for SOOO LONG… and I finally decided to make an appointment. I was floored. The staff all are just amazing! Dr. Courtney - TALK ABOUT BEING BLOWN AWAY!!! He is absolutely incredible!!!
You WILL NOT be disappointed! Dr. Courtney is extremely educated and takes his time with you so that you can understand what is going on and what can be done to fix it.
I will continue to see Dr. Courtney for as long as I can and will ALWAYS refer every single person I know/meet to see Dr. Courtney!

I had left neck incision replacing C4-C7. I suffered with neck bain for over 25 years. Very nervous at first with the thought mostly of an incision being made in my neck but it was the best decision I ever made. I trust Dr. Courtney & Allison and would highly recommend him.

My general doctor advised me to consult Dr. Stephen Courtney. I had bad back pain. It was making me go through a nightmare. Visiting Dr. Stephen Courtney helped me get rid of the pain. I am not suffering from pain anymore. The team of other professionals at this clinic also deserves a special mention. Dr. Stephen Courtney and his team are very capable of handling any sort of issue. Modern equipment and the latest technology. A must-visit if anyone is facing serious orthopedic issues.

Dr. Courtney is the best back and neck surgeon in Texas. He has operated on my neck and my spine with excellent results. I won’t let anyone else touch my spine. He is brilliant. It has been written that he is the orthopedic doctor’s doctor. I would get his opinion before I considered anything concerning my back. He has a wonderful and caring staff as well.
