Dr Silver was wonderful. This was the best initial meeting I’ve ever had with any doctor and I’m 52, so that’s saying something. He thoroughly explained my MRI , reviewing the images with me so I was clear on what the report meant. He gave me every option regarding treatment and patiently answered all my questions. He was lovely to talk too, not once was I made to feel rushed. I truly appreciated his kindness and excellent care, after 4 years of being treated less then human by workers comp doctors.

Stephen G. Silver, MD is a skilled, board certified orthopedic surgeon, subspecializing in sports medicine, shoulder, elbow and knee injuries. He gives his patients 100% of his individual attention, and he makes sure they understand his diagnosis and all their different treatment options.
Dr. Silver has served as team physician for the NBA Brooklyn Nets since 2000, including two trips to the finals. He graduated from New York Medical College (1994) at the top of his class and was elected to the academic honor society Alpha Omega Alpha his junior year. After completing his residency at NYU (1999), Dr. Silver accepted a fellowship with Dr. Craig Morgan who pioneered arthroscopic techniques for cartilage transplantation and labral repair, particularly in Major League Baseball pitchers. As a Sports Fellow of Dr. Arthur Bartolozzi, he participated in the care of the Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles. Dr. Silver is a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
In addition to being long active in working with professional and recreational athletes, Dr. Silver also treats chronic degenerative arthritis as well as acute traumatic injuries including fractures of the clavicle, elbow and shoulder.
Dr. Silver has particular expertise in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee. He has performed thousands of arthroscopic repairs of labral tears and SLAP lesions in overhead throwing athletes, over the past 15 years in private practice. He specializes in repairs of rotator cuff tears and stabilizations of dislocating shoulders.

When I finally came to grips with the realization that I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon about my increasing knee pain, I was terrified. As a former college athlete, I really never had to navigate finding a surgeon on my own, and going to see my surgeon in Palm Springs was not an option. So asking around I was referred to Dr. Silver who came with a flood of praise, and his tremendous experience working with professional athletes in all sports on shoulders, knees, etc. made me very confident that I was in good hands. And Boy was I right about my assumption! Dr. Silver has been nothing but amazing. He really helps explain your situation, lays out every single option that is on the table (even ones that don't involve surgery). And now coming out 6mos post op... my jacked up knee now feels like the better of the 2! If I didn't live in Manhattan I might consider getting the other one done too lol.
So fear not, stop searching, you've found your surgeon. You're in GREAT hands!

I have been a patient for Dr. Silver for the past 7 months. He advised me on getting rotator surgery after reviewing an MRI during my 1st consult. It was definitely the correct decision as he was able to identify and repair everything that was wrong with my shoulder. Labral tear, bone spurs, and bicep tear. I am in the middle of physical therapy after Dec 4 surgery. Can't thank him and his staff enough for the great experience leading up to and post op surgery care and follow ups. I would recommend anyone seeking orthopedic advice to see Dr. Silver to get an honest and pragmatic diagnosis.
