About Dr. Steven Shamash

Meet Steven B. Shamash, D.O. Dr. Shamash grew up in Connecticut and completed his undergraduate training at The State University of New York at Binghamton, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He subsequently attended The State University of New York at Buffalo where he received his Master of Science degree, while performing clinical research in oncology. He is a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduated in the top 15% of his graduating class. Dr. Shamash completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. He served as the chief orthopedic resident during his senior year and received the Henrietta and Jack Avart Memorial award; given to the Orthopedic Surgery resident who has exhibited exceptional competency in Orthopedic Surgery during their training program. Upon his graduation, Dr. Shamash, went on to complete additional fellowship training in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Shamash is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (AOBOS) and has added subspecialty qualification in surgery of the hand. He holds academic titles as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and NYITCOM in Long Island.
