About Dr. Steven Ferrer
Dr. Ferrer is a co-founder and owner of Progressive Spine & Sports Medicine. As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team at our clinic in Ramsey, his goal is to maximize recovery and functionality by utilizing the field’s most advanced conservative treatment options.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, followed by both his residency and fellowship at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute.
With double board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, Dr. Ferrer specializes in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain conditions. He prides himself on performing a variety of non-surgical procedures to optimize patient outcomes and improve recovery time for various conditions and injuries. Additionally, he holds a certification in medical acupuncture, which he incorporates into comprehensive, multidisciplinary pain treatment plans.

Dr Ferrer has helped over my entire course of lower back/lumbar/herniated disc issues. Over a period of time be has focused on careful steps involving minor surgery and pain management; though he is very conservative with medication and possible negative effects. Not the kind of doctor who throws scrips at you-he really cares about all aspects of your life and how it affects your ailment. Typically he'll be with me for half an hour or so.

Dr. Ferrer was extremely informative. My whole experience from start to finish was great. The front desk is very nice and got me an appointment quickly and I left the office satisfied with the doctor's course of treatment. There is no way I will change doctors anytime soon!

I was very pleased with my visit at Dr. Ferrer's office. I really felt like he took the time to listen to me and my concerns and come up with a plan that was great for me. He was extremely pleasant and I would most definitely recommend his services to others.

I had an injury 2 years ago that was only getting worse. After seeing many doctors I found Dr. Ferrer and I couldn't be happier! He explained my injury to me and what the best options were for my situation. I'm finally on the right treatment path, thanks to Dr. Ferrer.

My wife and I see Dr. Ferrer and he is very nice to us and doesn't make me feel bad for asking a lot of questions. I would recommend him to anyone who was in pain. The office is very pleasant as well.

Dr. Steven Ferrer of PSSM diagnosed and verified via MRI and a comprehensive physical examination my condition of multiple herniated lumbar discs causing severe lower back pain as well as numbness and pain within my left leg. The office rapidly arranged the MRI, as well as 2 rounds of epidurals that have reduced my pain approximately 80% from what I was experiencing at the onset of treatment. His careful administration of medication and monitoring has prevented any unnecessary side effects, and my recovery continues to improve
Speaking with Dr. Ferrer is always a comforting, compassionate, and most importantly a highly educational experience in understanding why my condition was caused and how to rectify it for the long term. He truly is a unique and open professional and I am truly blessed in being under his care.

Dr. Ferrer was extremely kind, professional and thorough. He spent a lot of time with me addressing all of my concerns and questions. Carmen and the rest of the staff were nice and very polite even when I had to reschedule at the last min. And we're very understanding and patient even when I was running late. Also, the office and exam rooms have the latest equipment and were very clean. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and will defiantly recommend Dr. Ferrer.
