Dr Steve Schutzer is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in robotic total hip and knee replacement surgery. He has been in practice for 34 years.
He Co-founded Upswing Health in 2017 with his partner Dr Jay Kimmel.
Steve has been a leader in the National and regional effort to transform the healthcare sector from a siloed, volume-driven model with no culpability to a value-based framework aligned with provider transparency, accountability and predictability. He is the Physician Executive for the Orthopedic Service Line at Trinity Health Of New England and Medical Director of the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute, a Nationally recognized, validated center of excellence built on trusting relationships.
Steve also serves on the Executive Committee of the Moving to Value Alliance, a grassroots multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at creating a value-based healthcare ecosystem with the highest quality outcomes at a reasonable cost for the employers in Connecticut and their healthcare consumers. He leads the MTVA sub-committee on centers of excellence.
Steve is an avid outdoorsman. In his “free time” he enjoys riding motorcycles, ATVs, tractors and occasionally a bicycle, as well as training in Korean martial arts.
