About Dr. Suelane Do Ouro
After suffering from severe neck pain, Dr. Sueland Do Ouro has a real-life understanding of the significant impact chronic pain can have on a person’s quality of life. This experience has inspired her and the team at New York Pain Relief Medicine to take an open-minded approach to chronic pain management. They are open to every possible approach, whether interventional, pharmacological, or a combination of both.
For over 25 years, Dr. Sueland Do Ouro has fulfilled her mission as a pain specialist and anesthesiologist with the Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care at Beth Israel Hospital. She has also served as associate director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship Program and as a clinical associate professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Do Ouro earned her medical degree from Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (EBMSP). She completed her residency in Pain Management and her fellowship in Pain Medicine at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center.

Didn’t send papers they’d promised to. Very difficult to access system they are on, Kiara? Maybe that’s why papers didn’t arrive. Have appt next week so will straighten it all out. I guess they listened well enough as they fulfilled my request but was seen by 2 other fellows before seeing Dr, Do Ouro, making who heard what quite confusing for a first-time visit. I admit I was nervous; I hope that explains why I didn’t feel heard: Perhaps better to say, “ I’d like to feel more confident that I was heard and who heard what.” Because somehow, I suspect I was heard, but I’m really not sure. And I’d rather be sure. Feel confident these issues will resolve themselves. I’ve had difficulties feeling heard by quite a few NYC doctors, particularly surgeons, since the beginning of October. Many in different systems. Some systems share information; others don’t.

I had a very positive experience. The receptionist and the physician assistant were pleasant. I really loved the doctor. She understood my symptoms, had a good bedside manner, and answered my questions. However, I was dismayed that the waiting room and bathroom were dirty.

The worst doctor ever. Abrupt and rude. Appeared all she wanted to do was surgery or cut into the body, not pain management. Of course makes sense, the billing is more beneficial to the doctor when they can bill for surgical procedures rather than with routine maintenance, aka pain management - especially when Medicare fees are involved, as noted by another reviewer. I made it clear I did not want to be cut into in any manner and was open to alternatives. As if she was going to come up with a miracle cure no other doctor has. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital in 2021, have multiple chronic pain conditions for over 5 years, and know what the conditions are and what helps. She didn't even bother with 3 of the 4 conditions, nor was concerned. Only pushed doing surgical procedures for one. Addressing one condition doesn't help the other pain conditions or well being. I would suggest better to find a doctor who listens to you rather than one that Talks At You. A waste of time.

everyone in the office is very nice but also very professional. You can tell the staff really wants to help. The Dr actually listens. In the first appointment the Dr gave me a clear understanding of what she can provide. I now see them regularly for pain managment. I am somewhat of a complex case, so I’m grateful to have finally found a Dr who is willing to treat my chronic pain.
