Getting to know Dr. Taiye Popoola
I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist and Sleep Medicine Specialist with additional certification in Perinatal Mental Health. I earned my Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Ilorin, completed my Psychiatry residency at MU School of Medicine, and pursued a Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I also hold a PhD from the University of Kansas Medical Center. I provide compassionate and patient-centered care using medication management and brief psychotherapeutic interventions to treat various mental health conditions, including depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. I also specialize in treating various sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and hypersomnia.
What should a new client know about working with you?
No two patients are the same. My approach is patient-centered. I individualize my assessment and treatment plan. You will have significant input into your treatment plan as I will provide you options to ensure you are engaged in the process and it is personalized to you.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Initial visits are 60 minutes in duration. During this visit, the goal is to understand you and your mental health or/and addiction struggles and to formulate a plan to address them. Subsequent sessions last 20 minutes. Follow up schedule is individualized but ranges from 1 week to 3 months

I did not enjoy this doctor. I explained I was nervous and she was rude and actually would cut me off mid sentence like I was talking too much. I understand she could be busy or something. But because she would not listen she didn't understand my problems. I will not book with her again.
